SnoMG!

We got hit with a few inches of snow on Monday night!  It was the good kind, too – no freezing rain to make the roads miserable and close down the entire city.  Just big, fluffy flakes that were perfect for making a little snowman.

I was extra pumped because the snow delayed my mom’s departure!  Wahoo.  We really like it when she comes to stay with us, and any reason to extend the trip is fine by me.

Because someone always asks –> Claire’s fleece booties.  They are Henry’s hand-me-downs and we love them so much we bought a second pair.  Worth every penny.

Mom chatted with me while I rode my trainer – yay for conversation!  Normally, I read a book or look out the window at our street.  This was a nice change of pace.

I did 30 minutes and then I called it quits… I have trouble getting over the 30 minute hump mentally.  Anyone else?   I can’t believe that I’ve done 2 hour stretches – that sounds soooo painful right now.

The night before, I did an Operation Beautiful event at nearby Wingate University. It’s National Eating Disorders Awareness Week, and I usually travel non-stop this week for speaking events, but with Claire being so young, I decided to mostly sit this round out. It was fun to talk to a school so close – it was only a 45 minute drive.

I did not present to an empty room, hah.

And here are some awesome eats from yesterday and today!

Have you tried the Caramel Almond and Sea Salt KIND bar?  OMG. Seriously – OMG.  It’s so good. I randomly grabbed it off the grocery store shelf and ate it standing it line… I ended up going back to the shelf and throwing twelve bars in my cart.  It’s really tasty with some Earl Grey tea.

Quinoa, beans, roasted carrots, steamed kale and Tahini Sauce.

And hardboiled eggs are making a comeback in my life.

Have an awesome Wednesday!

You need TrainerRoad! I train almost exclusively indoors and during triathlon season, I’m usually on the trainer a good 5 or so hours a week and never get bored. They use your ANT+ data from a heart rate monitor and/or cadence sensor (or a powermeter, but I don’t seem to recall that you have one) to guide you through focused interval work. I turn on music and the program, and it’s like playing a video game for my workout.

Funny, that is the only flavor kind bar I eat..it is so good! And I always pair it with hot tea! I’m in CLT too, more snow coming our way

That is the cutest smallest snowman ever. Adorable!

I definitely struggle to work out for more than 30 minutes at a time. When I did my yoga teacher training we would start each day with a 2 hour class, and that was just the beginning. I look back at myself for that with awe- I’m not too sure how I survived! It’s amazing how time can change our perspective so much.

And I want that granola bar. Starting the search to find it!

Wait, you look out the window on the trainer? WHAT! Holy cow. I would die. I couldn’t do it. Parenthood on Netflix is the only thing getting me through the winter on my trainer. I also really like trainer workout videos like The Sufferfest or Spinervals. I bet you could download them on your tablet if you can’t move your bike!

Yum! That lunch looks amazing. And I’m with you on the 30 minute hump when it comes to cardio. I am kind of over it by 25 minutes, so 30 minutes feel like an achievement.

Funny how your baby is just staring at you while on the bike…too cute.

Looks like the snow is making its way around the entire U.S. Glad to know we’re not alone here in New York.

the 30 minute limit is very real. i cant be on the trainer by myself unless i’m watching a tv show that i realllyyyyy want to be watching. so fun to have your mom chatting with you during your ride!

You can take all my snow!!! Lol

I’ll have to get my hands on one of those Kind bars. I never knew what the big deal was with salted caramel until I tried some sea salt and chocolate covered caramels. Where has this been my whole life!? Yum.

Btw, are you listening to music when you’re on the bike? Music makes monotonous workouts a lot more enjoyable for me. Plus, if my kids are around, they’re usually happier when they can jam out too!

I can’t only do about 30-45 min on our spinning bike at a time. Totally a mental thing — I feel ya!

Claire doesn’t look too sure about those brotherly hugs! Cute!
I heard you were going to have more snow overnight tonight so you’ll have lots for multiple snow people. Maybe you should make one for each of you?
Which leads me to ask how the Hus enjoyed his cruise? Now he’s home for snow? 🙂

nothing better than spending time with family! especially when it’s “bonus” time!

Thanks for the link on the booties. As a non-mom whose friends are all having babies, I love hearing what’s working for people who have children so I can be a better gift giver. 🙂
