Not this kind of swim…
This kind of swim.
Yesterday, I asked Henry if he wanted to go swimming. This is how the conversation went:
Me: “Henry, do you want to go to the pool and swim like a fishy in the water?â€
Henry: “No, dolphin in ocean.â€
Me: “Oh, okay. Do you want to go to the pool and go swimming like a dolphin in the ocean?â€
Henry: “No, like a fishy!â€
Me: “Like a fishy?â€
Henry: “Swimmin’ like DOLPHIN!â€
Me: “A dolphin? Are you sure?â€
Henry: “SWIMMIN’ LIKE FISHY WAHHHHHHHHHH!†{Tone: Get it right, momma!!!}
So we agreed to swim like both a dolphin AND a fishy, but first, he had to go to childcare so I could run. Hello, Half Marathon in like two weeks. Yikes.
I have so much PRIDE when I wear my Half Ironman shirt. By far the most bad-ass shirt I will ever own. You know, reflecting back on that race, I am SO GLAD that I did it. Training was so challenging (way harder than the race, I thought!), but it’s so wonderful to have that accomplishment under my belt. Even if I never do a 70.3 again, I will always be so happy with that race performance. Good memories.
Here’s my track workout:
Here’s how far I got with my “plank to failure†attempt, which is basically do a plank until your abs collapse. Think my body is accustomed to one minute planks?!
Afterwards, as promised, Henry and I swam like dolphins and fishys.  Henry took swimming lessons from the time he was 6 months to 13 months (or so? Can’t remember), but we stopped going in favor of a music class. However, he seems to have retained all his swim knowledge and still really likes the pool. I kept whispering in his ear, “You’re going to grow up to do triathlons with mommy, right?!â€Â Haha.
By the time we left, it was dark out. But still warm – we had a 75 degree day yesterday! I can hardly believe it snowed 10 inches last week. Weather in the South is nutty.
A little salad and couch action to end the day…
Holy yum. Sunflower seeds + arugula is my current obsession.
Thought of the Day
Amen to that!
I like that last quote! For me it needs to read don’t ruin a good day by thinking about what is coming this weekend…ha! My inlaws are coming into town and our relationship is cordial at best. But I shouldn’t let that ruin my day today! On another note, I love hearing about Henry. I have a 4 month old son and it is so fun to see what my future holds!
