{Yesterday}
6:10 AM – I wake up on my own, roll over, and check my phone. Ughhhhh. Too early. My alarm is scheduled to go off in 10 minutes but I silence my phone (WHY!? I wish I could make myself stop doing this, but it always feels like an excellent idea at the time). I stay in bed until…
6:40 AM – Okay. I seriously have to get up now. I stumble into the kitchen, make a strong cup of coffee, pour a huge glass of water, and sit at my computer. I pray that Henry doesn’t wake up before I can finish my deadlines…
8:00 AM – By some miracle, Henry slept in! While he was sleeping, I managed to write a blog post, do some work for Operation Beautiful, pay some bills, and get through half of my emails.
8:00 AM to 9:00 AM – We eat breakfast. Henry must be going through a growth spurt because he keeps asking for “more, more, more!â€Â He eats MORE food than I do for breakfast! Amazing.
9:00 AM – The Husband plays with Henry while I get dressed for the gym. We leave around 9:15. When we arrive, I open the door to find him quietly playing on his laptop. He looked so serious! I asked him if he was blogging. Hah.
9:30 to 10:45 AM – I do this epic Arms and Abs Track Workout. It is KILLER but in a good and manageable way. I’m making a serious, concerted effort to just get over my hatred of strength training while we’re in the triathlon off season. Coach Marni says that I won’t ever get faster unless I get stronger, so… I’m trying!
Speaking of track workouts, I made a board on Pinterest with a few of my favorite recent workouts.
11:00 AM – When we get back home, I am super excited to see our new oven has arrived! Our old one was broken, so we upgraded to stainless steel.
The Husband is frantically trying to get some projects done before we pass off childcare duties, so Henry hangs out with me while I shower and pack for an Operation Beautiful speaking event. When I come out of our bedroom at 11:45 AM, I am surprised by the arrival of the new microwave!
Our kitchen is slooooowly being upgraded to this century. We just put in new handles, too. Man – handles are expensive.
12:15 PM – I kiss everyone goodbye and jump in the car. I have to drive 4.5 hours to Greenville, North Carolina for my presentation. On the way over, I snack on many, many things, including these delicious coffee almonds.
Everything tastes better with coffee.
While driving, I have three conference calls. One is about the blog redesign. Do you like it?! We’re still adding some buttons and searching for ways to improve functionality. There are always so many kinks to work out when new designs go live! Bear with me if something is amiss (and please let me know if you notice any bugs).
The new HTP design is by Swoon Creative. I love the chevron pattern.
5:00 PM – I arrive at my hotel.
And I quickly change. I am VERY grateful that my shirt is long because the zipper on my favorite work pants is… GONE! No idea what happened to it. Glad I could cover it or I would’ve ended up presenting in yoga pants…
I scarf down a Subway salad. It’s very lackluster. I do a little bit more work before I leave.
5:45 PM – Arrive at East Carolina University. I presented here about three years ago and am so happy to be back. Can you believe that I’m nearing my ONE HUNDREDTH Operation Beautiful presentation!? I cannot! (You can learn more about my speaking events here).
6:30 to 7:30 PM – I present! I’d guess that 120 students showed up. We ran out of chairs. People were sitting on the floor!
7:30 PM – I leave ECU and start looking for dinner. I find a place called Mario’s Tacos. The nice old lady behind the counter speaks almost no English, but I use my basic Spanish skills to order bean tacos. I get the tacos to go, and she locks up the restaurant for the night as I leave. I drive to my hotel and open the box to discover that the tacos (which look AMAZING) are covered in avocado, which I’m allergic to. Bahhhhh. I’m soooo hungry. I get back into my car and aimlessly drive to a grocery store, where I walk around and decide that nothing looks good <— low blood sugar problems. I go to Wendy’s and get a potato and a salad. I mourn my tacos. They smelled so good. Mario’s Tacos – I will be back one day.
9:00 PM – I sit in my hotel bed and write a freelance article. I have another conference call with my web designer regarding implementing the new design. I screw around on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, and then I curse myself when I realize that I’m breaking ALL my sleep rules, and it’s seriously past my bedtime.
11:00 PM - I go to sleep. <3
Wow. What a busy day! Congratulations on your 100th speaking presentation. That is huge. You are doing such a great thing for girls everywhere!
I’m so sad for you, not being able to have avocado!
