Psst – The winner of the Albion Sit swimsuit giveaway is Valerie B!  Congrats!

I’m frequently asked what blogs and websites I love to read. No Meat Athlete is always at the very top of my list. Regardless of whether you’re a vegan or vegetarian, NMA is an awesome resource for people interested in endurance events.  Matt and his team creates the best content, such as: 50 Resources for New Vegetarians, The Ultimate Energy Bar Formula, Foam Rolling for Assholes (because For Dummies was taken, of course) and 63 Ways to Shake Up Your Running Routine.

And here’s a fun fact: Matt just ran (and survived) a 100 mile race (yes, 100 miles… on foot)!  Isn’t that insane?

I am *super* excited for the official No Meat Athlete book, which comes out this fall.  I’ve already pre-ordered my copy and cannot wait for Amazon to deliver it to my door!

In the meantime, Matt has published yet another wonderful e-book called The No Meat Athlete’s Triathlon Roadmap.  I was pumped to receive an alert in my inbox that his triathlon e-book was available because I absolutely loved his other e-books -  Half Marathon Roadmap and Marathon Roadmap.

As you would expect, The No Meat Athlete’s Triathlon Roadmap is packed with tons of great information for newbie triathletes looking to complete their first sprint triathlon.  As someone who’s completed over a dozen sprint and Olympic tris, I can tell you that this e-book is an awesome way to prep and prepare for your first race. In the book, you’ll find…

A 12-week training plan for a sprint triathlon.

Gear explanations and lists.

Training advice, including swim workouts to improve your form and speed; cycling advice on safe riding; and a transition guide, including photos of transition set-ups.

A 29-page meal plan and recipe book (the recipes look SO good – I can’t wait to try a bunch).

2013-08-16_1257_001

An introduction to plant-based training diets, including grocery lists of staple foods, protein advice, and No Meat Athlete’s very famous “The Only Smoothie Recipe You’ll Ever Need.”

An introduction to plant-based fueling for workouts, including advice on calorie intake and sodium intake.

A list of Additional Resources, including recommended books and websites.

Audio interviews with pro-Ironman athlete Hillary Biscay and others.

A section on caring for and maintaining your bike.

The Basic Bike Maintenance made me want to jump out of my chair, run to the garage, and begin cleaning the chains on my bike.  I am really, really bad about bike care.  I am thinking about purchasing another bike (this has been in the back of my mind for a while… I keep waffling on it), and I know that if I choose to invest in another bike, I need to get better about bike maintenance.  But I’m so intimidated by it!  NMA’s simple explanation of lubricating chains, levers, and cables made me feel like I could actually do it myself (and I’m going to!) instead of spending $50 at the bike store to have someone else do it.

I think his products are amazing resources for vegans and vegetarians, as well as anyone who is interested in running events and triathlons.

Plus, how cute is the little No Meat Athlete carrot? I love him.  <3  Run, carrot, run!

Thanks for reminding me of NMA! Now that I can actually say I run, it would be great to learn about how to build my endurance with a vegetarian/vegan diet! Have a great weekend, Caitlin!

This sounds really good, I’m interested in the marathon guide, I’m running my second in November, and really need all the help I can get to be a bit faster!

This is great! I am a new runner trying to incorporate more meatless meals into my diet. This is perfect post, thank you!

Ha! I just wrote about how I’m so lame when it comes to fixing/doing things to my bike. I wish I could be cool and self-sufficient, but no. I suck. Are you good at changing tires? I can do it but mechanical stuff = embarrassing myself.

I’ve read Matt’s blog for years and am super stoked on this guide! 100 miles is crazy!

I’m not a vegetarian/vegan, but I have plenty of running friends who are who might enjoy this… and I’m sure there are plenty of useful tips in the book for all of us meat-eaters too!

I am training for my first marathon and recently finished his marathon roadmap E-Book! Really great info! It was also wonderful as a vegetarian to have recipes where I could eat ALL of them 🙂
