Nectarines and Cream

When I mentioned yesterday that making breakfast for myself while watching the baby was difficult, I got lots of great suggestions:  put him in a swing, put him in a wrap, and make breakfast ahead of time.  I thought I’d tackle the last suggestion first.  I don’t know if you’ve ever tried to drop a [...]

Mommy Brain

This pretty much sums up my day so far: I could not, for the life of me, remember if I had fed the dogs approximately ten minutes before this photograph was taken.  I poured the dry food and suddenly had a sneaking suspicion that I had already done it… except I really couldn’t be sure.  [...]

On Sunday, the Husband and I were watching Wimbledon.  Of course, we were cheering for Andy Murray, as a British man hasn’t won the event in 75 years.  Unfortunately, Andy lost. (Source) Anyway, I finally figured out how tennis works (the scoring system is pretty confusing, if you ask me).  While watching the match, I [...]

Tag Team

Not only has DadHTP found a walk for me to walk with Henry in the dead of summer (on the indoor track at the gym), he also figured out a system so we could both get our swim workouts in.  We simply tag team watching Henry.   All three of us started off by walking [...]

I have a feeling that I’ll begin every post this way, but seriously – how has a month after passed since I gave birth to Henry?!   He cannot possibly be four weeks old yet!  He’s growing up too fast.   You can check out my first post-pregnancy update here – Mind and Body After Baby [...]

Day 1, Complete

First things first:  today, someone (i.e. ME!!!) completed Day 1 of the Couch to 5K program.  After six months of no running, it felt awesome to get out there and partake in my favorite form of ‘me time.’  Everybody needs me time, but as a new momma, I neeeeeed it.  I had such a blast [...]

Stuffed

Put work aside; it’s time for lunch! These twice-baked potatoes are stuffed with lentils, corn salsa (from Trader Joe’s), and a little Earth Balance.  Topped with melty cheddar cheese.  To make ‘em, I baked the potatoes for an hour at 400, let them cool off, scooped out the insides, and mixed the insides with the [...]

More Sports Bras for the B.T.C.

Back in 2011, I wrote a post called “Sports Bras for the B.T.C.”  B.T.C., if you will recall your middle school acronyms, stands for Big Titty Committee.  While women with smaller breasts can get away with any old sports bra, a larger chest requires a seriously great sports bra.  To me, a great sports bra [...]

Social

Last night, our friends Jen, Jeff, and their son Wyatt came over for dinner.  It’s always wonderful to see friends, but it’s EXTRA nice when they bring us a baby meal.   Jen and Wyatt just won the stroller division of a local race – she’s a speed demon (and Wyatt is a good coach). [...]

Indoor Baby

My, my.  Henry and I have had quite the day.  We ran errands together; we vacuumed the house together (Henry in his carrier; makes vacuuming quite the workout); and we went to the gym together. Last week, DadHTP had a great idea.  He remembered how my mother would take me in my stroller to the [...]

BGP Saturday

Happy weekend! Do you have fun plans for today?  I do – I’m going to run some errands with Henry all by myself.  I’m actually looking forward to it (the adventure of going out alone, not running the actual errands).  Pray that I survive!  I’ve got a stocked diaper bag, an extra change of clothes [...]

Read On

First of all, here is a gratuitously cute photograph of Henry from our newborn shoot. Second of all, here is my delicious breakfast! In the mix:   Raw oats Blueberries Greek yogurt Almonds   I tried this brand of Greek yogurt today.  Honestly, I picked it up because it was only a buck (on sale).  [...]

Fellows

I have a new favorite food combo:  roasted eggplant and Ranch dressing. There’s something about the two that blend together so perfectly.  Plus, I’m always a fan of simply using salad dressings as sauces.  Way easier than making a sauce from scratch and way cheaper than buying bottled sauces.  We have a sauce fiend in [...]

5K Plans for Beginners

Or for those who are getting back into the sport – like me! On Monday, I’ve got my four-week post-partum check up.  Also known as the appointment that will or will not give me clearance to exercise beyond walking.  I’ve got my fingers crossed that I’ll get the all-clear; I feel great and am very [...]
