Rain and Ritz

Dreary day out there…

But that’s okay because I love rainy weather.  By far the best type!

Especially when you wake up before the alarm and get to spend a few minutes awake in bed… with tea… and toast… on a weekday.  Trying to soak this laziness up as much as I can before BabyHTP arrives. Although – maybe BabyHTP will become a lazy toddler who likes to lay in bed in the mornings, too?  Does that ever happen?!  Or do I have to wait until teenage years?  Hah.

While sipping the tea, we reminisced about our last trip to London (we’re thinking about taking the baby to Europe next Christmas so he or she can meet the Husband’s grandparents).  If you ever go to London, I HIGHLY recommend going to tea time at The Ritz.  It’s a really cool experience – honestly, it’s probably the best tourist thing that I’ve ever done in London.

We were so ridiculously high on sugar and caffeine and carbs by the time we left.

I make a pretty good cup of tea… but The Ritz kind of blows me out of the water.

I really think BabyHTP is a girl. I’m getting so excited for you! My husband and I are still a couple years away from starting our family, but I’m your age, and your bravery in taking this next step has been so amazing. I, too, feel like I’m in the nebulous stage where all our friends are married, but not many have decided to take the leap into parenthood. I love your attitude–take one day at a time, do the best you can to prepare, don’t panic. It’s so hard to tell when my husband and I will feel ready, but I’ve learned from you that there’s no perfect time, and at a certain point, you just have to decide that you’re ready enough. You and Kristien will be great parents!

Aw thank you Lauren. I really appreciate it. I definitely rec waiting until your friends are having babies, too! It makes it more fun and less scary that way 🙂 You’ll get there soon enough. Do all the fun coupley things you want to do in the meantime! Like travel!!

The Ritz looks gorgeous! I think I would be happy if I just got to GO to London, or anywhere on another continent!!!! haha

Atlanta is so dreary lately! I love that my yard is looking good and that my garden is producing, but I need a little sunshine!

As for laid back babies…I had one that was so laid back (didn’t even cry when he was born) and one that was not so laid back. I’m just glad I had the laid back one first. Makes life a lot easier when you have such a huge change!

Ooh that high tea looks so gorgeous! My friend got married in Australia last month and for her Hen’s Night, (well, afternoon I suppose) her sister and I organized high tea at there house with lots of small baked goodies. So much fun!

I love tea time and your pot is so cute! Are you going to go back to drinking coffee once the baby comes, or stick to tea?

    • CaitlinHTP June 5, 2012, 10:38 am

You know, I don’t know! I feel like I’ve really fallen in love with tea taste. I still have coffee occasionally now though but it effects me SO much. So maybe I will need coffee 🙂 haha.

Tea time at the Ritz is definitely on my to do list. I just love afternoon tea.
Actually I just made homemade clotted cream and cream scones in honour of the Diamond Jubilee this weekend.

  • Army Amy* June 5, 2012, 10:24 am

Did y’all watch the diamond jubilee festivities?*

    • CaitlinHTP June 5, 2012, 10:39 am

      No! What is that?

      • Kate June 5, 2012, 12:02 pm

Your husband is a Brit and he didn’t watch the Diamond Jubilee? Shame on him! 😉 It was celebrating the Queen’s 60 year reign.

        • Liz June 6, 2012, 12:24 am

I, too, am kind of surprised you guys didn’t watch any of the Jubilee fun 😉

That would be wonderful if you could take the baby for Christmas!

I am currently lazying about in bed with my 3 yr old & my 4 month old. It does happen & it’s awesome! Lots of snuggles for all & it’s the best 🙂

    • Crystal June 5, 2012, 12:42 pm

It happens a lot here too. This morning my 3.5 year old said I don’t want to get up, let’s stay in bed and snuggle. Who can argue with that?

  • Presley @ Run Pretty June 5, 2012, 10:37 am

Your day sounds just like mine so far. Dreary, check. Baby belly, check. Tea, I wish. I’d drinking juice though, so maybe I’ll poke my pinky out and pretend… 🙂

  • Tiff @ Love Sweat and Beers June 5, 2012, 12:00 pm

I was happy about today’s rain. My yard needed it! I would have been happier though if I got to enjoy more of it in bed with some English breakfast tea though… 🙂

  • Marissa C June 5, 2012, 1:49 pm

You don’t have to wait until toddlerhood…my 6 month old is content to snuggle with us in the morning. At least for a little while…then she wants us to get up!

  • mama June 5, 2012, 2:00 pm

you might not have to wait til the teenage years! My 3 year old sleeps in her own bed all night but when she wakes up i can can bring her in to hang out for a bit in our room and she lays and cuddles nicely! She’s a pretty calm laid-back kid! Attributed to dh’s personality for sure! Cross your fingers!

  • Lexi @ You, Me, & A World to See June 5, 2012, 2:24 pm

Ohmygosh, I’ve never been to London, but tea time looks amazing!!!! What girl hasn’t pretended to have a tea party as a youngin’? 😉

  • Julia H. @ Going Gulia June 5, 2012, 3:04 pm

That high tea idea is great–it’s like getting a little taste of what the Ritz is like without going broke staying in a room there! I’ll keep that in mind if I ever go back to London!

  • Lauren June 6, 2012, 10:03 am

You should do a post on how you make your tea! I’m trying to learn to love it, and in Texas – our tea is just nice sugary watery lipton tea! So when it comes to good tea, surely there’s more to it than just boiling water and steeping!
