Today was all about play and work. And more work.
The play part was the best part, of course! It was our first lesson for the new season of Girls on the Run. GOTR is an after-school program for third to fifth grade girls that encourages character development through running. Our team consists of 15 girls, and we meet twice a week for ten weeks. At the end of season, we run (or walk or shimmy-shake or skip) a community-wide 5K with about 3,000 other local participants.
The Husband and I love coaching. We actually have twelve returning girls this season, some from the fall and some from last year. It was fun to see everyone’s face again.
We have two co-coaches this year, too! Our Charlotte friends Catherine and Katy are joining the team.
The work parts of the day consisted of writing (yay!), bookkeeping (boo!), and cleaning the house for MomHTP’s arrival. I don’t do intense ‘special’ cleans for anyone but my mom – I like to keep a (relatively) tidy house anyway. But MomHTP has this crazy ability to spot dust from 10 feet away. She never says anything to me, but I spot her discreetly wiping it down later. I love it; it always makes me laugh. But I do try to stay one step ahead of her when she comes for a visit!
Dear Cleaning Fairies, why haven’t you come to my house yet? I’m waaaaiting for you.
Eats, Eats, Eats
Dinner was a yummy mix of brown rice, steamed kale, baked tofu, and corn salsa.
An apple for a snack…
And ice cream as my post-mopping reward. Bribery works.
And now, I’m surveying my clean house and munching on toast. Life is good.
What were the best work and play parts of your day?
Favorite Play Time = Right now, hanging on the couch with Ben and Lil! And my mom is exactly the same way!!!
