I <3 Coffee

in All Posts

Good morning!  Happy Memorial Day to my fellow Americans, especially the men and women in the armed forces.

Here’s something small that is having a hugely positive impact on my mood:  Gardenias!  The other night, I cut a bunch of lovely white gardenias off a big bush in front of my house and arranged them in a Ball jar – they have made my house smell SO delicious.

Speaking of smelling delicious, today I had the most AMAZING CUP OF COFFEE

IMG_5113

Yesterday, I was caffeine-free because I was taking an ASI Test, and it was so, so hard to go without coffee. I ended up going to sleep at 10 PM after moping around the house in a hormonal, teary mess – literally.  All I could think about was caffeine.  I’m a coffee addict, and I’m not ashamed to admit it.

We were actually OUT of coffee this morning, so I walked to a corner store in my pajamas for a piping fresh cup.  So worth it.  I burned my lips taking the first sip because I could hardly wait to get the java down my throat.

If I have to quit coffee during pregnancy, I am going to be one angry pregnant woman.

Cooked this lovely breakfast when the coffee started to kick in:

Scrambled eggs with parsley on whole wheat bread smothered in Italian herbs in a tube.

+ some lovely fruit.

Time to get my workout + work on.  It may be a holiday, but I have plans to maximize it!

Are you a coffee addict?

I’m a total coffee addict! I had to go a few days without it, and it was quite possibly the worst thing ever!

  • khushboo May 30, 2011, 10:09 am

Haha glad I’m not the only 1 who walks to the convenience store in pjs ;)! Not a coffee addict, or much of a coffee drinker for that matter! I prefer coffee flavored things, particularly ice cream!

  • bobbie May 30, 2011, 10:09 am

Caitlin, I AM a coffee addict! With my first pregnancy I drank no coffee b/c I wanted to do everything right although my doctor told me that I could have a cup of coffee per day with no harm to my little one or myself. By my 2nd pregnancy I allowed myself that 1 cup per day and all was well. Funny thing is that with each one of my pregnancys I couldn’t stand the thought of coffee for the first 3 months so that made it easier…once all the queasiness was over I would crave it again. It’s funny b/c it was like my body knew I needed help kicking the habit 😉

    • Kara @ Kara's Marathon May 30, 2011, 11:34 am

Ditto, Bobbie — I’m a coffee addict who just had my first baby and coffee sounded totally unappealing during the first trimester! I was planning to cut out coffee during the first tri anyway due to the slightly elevated miscarriage risk associated with caffeine, but my aversion made it much easier.

I had 1-2 8 ounce cups of coffee daily throughout the second and third trimesters (and continue to drink 1 cup a day while nursing), and currently have a happy, healthy 1 month old rolling around on his playmat 🙂

      • Katie May 31, 2011, 4:06 pm

I agree with the queasiness! I am not a coffee drinker, but my husband drinks it in the morning and the smell of it still makes me a little naseaus and I am well into my second trimester!

  • Penny May 30, 2011, 10:11 am

I love my cuppa Joe too, but I HAD to make the switch to decaf. My body can’t handle caffeine in any form. It gives terrible migraines and fatigue.

  • meagan May 30, 2011, 10:14 am

You can definitely have coffee during pregnancy…a couple of cups a day, even 😉

  • Ann @ Day by Day May 30, 2011, 10:20 am

Ugh, yes. I’m so addicted to coffee! I’m trying to gradually decrease the amount I drink and I have been able to completely eliminate my afternoon coffee, which makes me feel better. I don’t think I’ll ever get completely off of coffee though.

  • Orla May 30, 2011, 10:21 am

I am a total coffee fiend. I have been told that I need to give it up by my doc but as of yet I haven’t managed to . I am down to one cup per day in the mornings but without it I am just downright nasty.
One of these days I will be able to look my doctor in the eye and tell her that I have given it up. Or I could just change doc…..

  • Kris May 30, 2011, 10:24 am

I love my first cup of coffee; I would kill for it, but that’s it. Sometimes I’ll have it iced for an afternoon pick me up, but it’s nothing like that first cup. I’ve had to cut it out a couple of times (before surgery), and it wasn’t hard. I just decreased the amount every morning until I wasn’t drinking any.

  • Lauren May 30, 2011, 10:26 am

I love my morning coffee! Lately it has been a craving for iced coffee, and if I do not have my large iced coffee in the morning the whole day goes bad!

  • Corinne May 30, 2011, 10:31 am

I drink about 2 cups a day so it’s not so bad. How do you drink your coffee? I see a lot of girls talking about iced coffee but I don’t know how to make it at home? Any tips?

  • Katherine May 30, 2011, 10:31 am

I absolutely adore coffee! I can not wait to have some Guatemala coffee!

  • Liv @ The Salty n' Sweet May 30, 2011, 10:33 am

I am definitely a coffee addict. A day without coffee is like a day in painful slow motion.

Hope the test went well, and have a great Memorial Day 🙂

  • Kristi May 30, 2011, 10:36 am

I love me some coffee. I usually try to stick to only one cup in the morning.

  • Fit Chick Britt May 30, 2011, 10:37 am

We’ve been out of coffee for a week! and it’s been insane. I’m sure starbucks is appreciating it though.

  • Justine May 30, 2011, 10:38 am

Surprised that your husband doesn’t discourage coffee with his holistic practice? But we all have our vices 🙂

    • Caitlin May 30, 2011, 12:07 pm

Oh he strongly discourages it. LOL

  • Gina @ Running to the Kitchen May 30, 2011, 10:40 am

Gardenias are 1 of my favorite flowers because of that smell (lilac is the other). I’m definitely an addict 😉

  • Kelly May 30, 2011, 10:46 am

Aren’t gardenias the best? I have been cutting them for the last month, and setting them in on my desk. They totally smell the entire house up and make me actually want to sit down and work. I love when they start to die and get that golden tint to them…their smell becomes different, yet still fragrant, almost nostalgic-like. Erm, can you tell I really love gardenias?! Sheesh.

    • Caitlin May 30, 2011, 12:07 pm

      That was poetic!

  • Anne May 30, 2011, 10:46 am

YES! I am a full on, unashamed coffee JUNKIE. Funny, though, during my first pregnancy, even the thought of it made me nauseous! Go figure.

  • The Teenage Taste May 30, 2011, 10:47 am

I wouldn’t say the word “addict” because I could go without coffee if I had to and only drink about 2 cups a day. But I am pretty coffee-dependent. If I don’t have coffee first thing in the morning and than again in the afternoon my energy levels begin to drain and I feel so tired and yucky.

Glad to hear I’m not the only one with a coffee “problem” though! 😛

  • Katie May 30, 2011, 10:48 am

I am 18 weeks pregnant, and I thought it was going to be SO HARD to give up coffee. After I found out I was expecting, I cut back to a small cup every other day one week and a small cup of tea on the other days, then switched to decaf the next week, then BAM–morning sickness kicked in and I couldn’t stand even the thought or smell of coffee. 🙂 Now that I’m past the nausea of the first trimester, I’ll have a small half caf/half decaf coffee 2-3 times a week and stick to straight decaf if I want it more often than that…decaf is unfortunately not the same!

    • Caitlin May 30, 2011, 12:07 pm

      congrats on your pregnancy 🙂

  • Kate (What Kate is Cooking) May 30, 2011, 10:49 am

    I’m not, but I love iced coffee! I make it half-caf so I don’t get addicted 🙂

  • Holly @ The Runny Egg May 30, 2011, 10:50 am

I like coffee and used to drink a ton of it. I started cutting back and now I enjoy a cup every couple of days. I just don’t love the flavor as much as I used to!

  • Meaghan (My Spoonful Of Inspiration) May 30, 2011, 10:51 am

    Coffee addict and proud! 🙂

  • Steph! May 30, 2011, 10:52 am

I’m pretty sure I’m a coffee addict. I know if it gets to be 10am (sometimes earlier) and I haven’t had any coffee, the headaches start! I don’t dare give it up 🙂

    That gardenia is beautiful!

  • Leianna May 30, 2011, 10:54 am

I’m a caffeine addict and drank it all throughout my pregnancy last year. My body was used to and so why deny it. Some people are way to strict when pregnant. I still ran too in 95 degree heat. My daughter is health and happy at 8 months!

  • Nicole @ running around the rock May 30, 2011, 10:54 am

Oh yeah… without a doubt! Full on addict 🙂

  • Laura @ LauraLikesDesign May 30, 2011, 10:55 am

Those are such cheery flowers. I’m definitely a coffee addict but trying to cut back…it’s tough!

  • Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat May 30, 2011, 10:56 am

Oooh what a lovely breakfast!! I hope you have a chance to relax today as well as be productive. Happy Memorial Day Caitlin!

  • Jenna (Hello, I Love You) May 30, 2011, 11:02 am

I love my coffee. I am now 33 weeks pregnant and still drink a cup every day. In fact, I am drinking some right now reading this post. My doctor said it was perfectly fine to have a cup of coffee (maybe even a little more) every day. 🙂

    • krista May 31, 2011, 9:32 am

I’m freshly pregnant with my second and still enjoy that 1-2 cups a day as well. I’m hoping it will still sound good once the nausea hits, I’m sure it’s coming!

  • Carla May 30, 2011, 11:05 am

I love that you’re an un-apologetic coffee addict!!! I WAS a coffee addict for a long time. Then I decided to give it up this past March for Lent…and I have yet to have another cup. I do miss the taste at times…but I’ve really been fine without it.

  • Faith @ lovelyascharged May 30, 2011, 11:06 am

I’m a super angry bird without my coffee too. I hear that one cup is okay when preggo – which is fantastic, because even though now is NOT the time for bebbies in my world, I couldn’t ever do it without!

  • briana May 30, 2011, 11:08 am

SO GLAD to hear so many people say that drinking (small amounts) of coffee is okay during pregancy! i am a “one morning cup of coffee) addict (with an afternoon cup only once in awhile), and i plan to try to get pregnant within the next two years or so. i have literally already started worrying about how i would go 9 months without coffee!

    • Caitlin May 30, 2011, 12:08 pm

me too. i will be a pregnant coffee drinker.

  • Rebecca May 30, 2011, 11:08 am

Nope. I actually hate coffee. And I don’t drink much pop/soda either. Although yesterday I snagged a couple of my dad’s coffee-flavored caramels and they were all right, but only because it was mostly caramel. 😛

I got a kick out of “angry pregnant woman”. Perhaps when you know you want to get pregnant, and if you absolutely have to kick the caffeine for the pregnancy, you could try weaning yourself off the caffeine so you don’t have the crabbiness? =\

My dad, on the other hand, gets cranky when he doesn’t have at least one cup of coffee a day. He usually drinks several. I found out the hard way in 5th grade that he gets crabby without his morning caffeine–he was chaperoning one of my class trips and was getting headaches pretty much all morning.
My mom used to drink coffee, but then stopped. She’ll drink decaf or like a mocha or something every now and then, but it’s not something she has to have every day. Now she prefers tea.

  • Amy May 30, 2011, 11:11 am

I followed the one cup/day rule during all of my pregnancies, but I switched to half-caf so that I could have two cups but only one cup’s worth of caffeine!

It’s when you’re nursing that things get really interesting, because some kids (like my first) react really strongly to caffeine, and the slightest bit will keep them up all night. Some kids (like my second) don’t seem to notice it one way or the other. Some kids (like my third) can handle the standard two cups of half-caf in the morning, but if I have anything caffeinated throughout the rest of the day – even one glass of iced tea at lunch – it completely destroys his nap schedule and he’s a mess for the rest of the day, and into the next.

Parenting is a lot of trial and error. I hope, for your sake, that all your kids are like my second!

    • Caitlin May 30, 2011, 12:09 pm

oh god i didnt think about coffee while nursing… FML.

      • BethT May 31, 2011, 4:04 pm

Maybe it depends on the kid, but I drank coffee through pregnancy, also drink it while nursing, and my kid is no worse for wear. I don’t know how new moms survive WITHOUT a cup of coffee each day. I would die.

  • Lindsey May 30, 2011, 11:13 am

I used to rarely drink coffee, maybe once a week and it would be a Starbucks latte. But in the past few months with marathon training I have been drinking it more often to give me that extra energy boost! haha. I still try to only have 3-4 cups a week, and then sub it out with decaf or tea, so that I do not become too caffeine dependant! But I love my coffee these days!

  • Katie @ running4cupcakes May 30, 2011, 11:16 am

Oh my gosh. . . I can’t imagine my mornings with my usual latte. 🙂

  • Jessica @ The Process of Healing May 30, 2011, 11:20 am

Gah I looove coffee too! Don’t mess with me and caffeine 🙂

  • Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table May 30, 2011, 11:22 am

Don’t worry – I think you can have a cup a day while pregnant. 🙂

  • Julia May 30, 2011, 11:29 am

My name is Julia and I’m a coffee addict!
And I really have no problem with that either. 😉
I just need to have my morning coffee and can skip coffee throughout the day if necessary. But, if I don’t get my morning coffee shot, it’s going to get really ugly – for me and the ones around me – hehe.

  • Jes May 30, 2011, 11:30 am

Gardenias are my favorite flower! Your breakfast looks delicious… especially the coffee!

  • Averie (LoveVeggiesandYoga) May 30, 2011, 11:35 am

I love coffee too. Just did a post on iced coffee the other day and got like 100 comments on it. Even tho many people shun it, clearly, the masses love their coffee. Me too 🙂

  • Kristen @ The Concrete Runner May 30, 2011, 11:40 am

I love(d) coffee, although not to the point where I needed it everyday, but figured when I got pregnant, I would just switch to decaf and be fine. Well, now I cannot even stomach the thought of drinking coffee, and I’m not quite sure I will ever get back to drinking coffee after our baby comes in the fall! You might be surprised by what you want to eat and don’t want to eat during pregnancy! I feel like I’ll never eat “normal” again! Ha! (I’ve been reassured that I will, but I still have my doubts)

  • JenRD May 30, 2011, 11:42 am

I was also a coffee addict, and weaned myself off of it when we were first trying to get pregnant–I figured it was better to do it then, rather than when I might be super tired and have morning sickness in my 1st trimester. I went from 2 cups to 1 cup daily, then switched to half-decaf. I did get some mild withdrawal headaches for about a week or two, but then I felt fine. I think the key is staying hydrated, which can increase your energy anyway. I also tried this all-natural, herbal coffee alternative, teeccino (http://www.teeccino.com/), when I felt like brewing something warm to drink. It was really good! Now I don’t even miss the coffee. Sometimes I’ll make an iced decaf on a hot day, but overall I prefer water or seltzer to drink lately.

    • CaitlinHTP May 31, 2011, 11:05 am

      I think I’ve had Teeccino before – you’re right, it’s good!

  • Rachel May 30, 2011, 11:48 am

I chose to quit coffee during my pregnancy, and for the first few days it is hard, but after you’ve passed the “detox” stage you don’t really miss it. I drink decaf or tea, or if I’m particularly tired one day I will have one small cup of the full caffeinated. Although now that I’ve been off it for so long, when I do drink caffeinated it makes me sooooooo jittery!

  • Moni'sMeals May 30, 2011, 11:48 am

on and off a coffee addict. It is the smell, just holding the cup and having a moment that I love. 🙂
    Love tea, teeccino as well.

    Happy Memorial Day Doll!

  • Sarena (The Non Dairy Queen) May 30, 2011, 11:50 am

Hell yes I have to have coffee. I don’t eat junk food, so I’m happy to say I love my coffee vice! I hope you have a great day Caitlin!

  • Priyanka May 30, 2011, 11:53 am

I like coffee or chai but I can live without it.

  • Jessica @ Jessica Balances May 30, 2011, 11:57 am

I am 100% addicted to coffee! I have to get my dose of caffeine each day, or I get massive headaches. Fun story: I was in a yoga workshop a few months ago and, for some insane reason, had decided that morning that I would not drink any coffee — by noon, I had a raging headache and had to call my boyfriend, begging him to bring me something with caffeine. He brought me some coffee, and life was good again. 🙂

  • D May 30, 2011, 12:09 pm

Yep, I love and need coffee! I think that ‘coffee addict’ is something people throw around a lot as a term. I find it funny when someone says (like someone at my job recently did) “Ugh yeah I’m a coffee addict totally, but I actually haven’t had any in a week or so..ugh need to fix that!” I’m like, that’s awesome you love coffee…but you’re not addicted/dependent. If I don’t have it within an hour of waking up, I feel like my eyes are literally going to pop out my skull and come 3pm I want to punch myself in the face. I would NEVER go a day without coffee! It would be impossible unless I slowlyyyy weaned myself off. But why would someone want to wean themselves off coffee?! It’s delicious!

    • Caitlin May 30, 2011, 12:23 pm

hahah yeah, those people are NOT coffee addicts.

  • Kristy May 30, 2011, 12:13 pm

I love my coffee in the morning! One of my favorites parts of the day is settling in with my coffee and breakfast. I tried to give it up for awhile but I enjoyed my morning ritual too much so now it’s back.

  • Molly @ RDexposed May 30, 2011, 12:16 pm

Thank you for admitting your dependence on coffee…because I too am hooked on it!

  • Lauren May 30, 2011, 12:19 pm

I like the taste of coffee sometimes, but it makes me far to anxious, so I don’t drink it. I did an adrenal test a few months ago (a 24 hour saliva one my naturopath had me do). My adrenals were in the burn-out stage (at 21!). Can’t wait to hear the results of your test! It was crazy because my test was so accurate- my naturopath asked me what I was doing on the day of the test at between 2-4pm because my stress hormones were going crazy then. I had found out at 3pm that day that my dog had stage 4 lymphoma and a mass on her pancreas, so obviously, I was a little stressed. Crazy that the test showed that though!!

  • Katy (The Singing Runner) May 30, 2011, 12:22 pm

I’m actually not a big coffee— or even caffeine person! Although I do sometimes love my once in a blue moon Starbucks coffee. 😉

  • Amber K May 30, 2011, 12:25 pm

Not at all. I beyond hate coffee (BLECH) and caffeine and I don’t mix. Although my best friend could never live without it, lol 🙂

  • Cait @ Beyond Bananas May 30, 2011, 12:35 pm

I love coffee.. but am not addicted. I don’t get headaches or anything when I miss – and don’t get an extra surge from the caffine. I simply love the taste!

  • Leila @ Spinach and Skittles May 30, 2011, 12:38 pm

    Mmmm fresh gardenias.
I am a total coffee addict. In the summer I like to make coffee ice cubes and make shakes with them.
Oh, and I love those herbs in a tube. Perfect for fresh herbs in the winter.

  • Kierstan @ Life {and running} in Iowa May 30, 2011, 1:10 pm

I am a total coffee addict too – though I am in total denial. It is just such a routine to have 2ish cups in the morning that I don’t think of myself as being addicted, but I am sure if I were ever in a place where I couldn’t have my morning joe, I would be a complete mess (read: angry person and not pleasant to be around!).

My name is Kierstan and I am a coffee addict.

    Baby steps, right?!

  • Laura @ Starting Out Fit May 30, 2011, 1:15 pm

I used to have to have a cup of coffee every morning before work..until I went away to Jamaica for my wedding at the start of April. It was too hot for me to enjoy a morning coffee down there, so I switched to water instead. I’ve been home 6 weeks now and haven’t had a morning cup of coffee since! I never really found that the caffeine affected me so it wasn’t like I NEEDED it. I now have 1 glass of water before work and then drink a big travel mug of green tea every morning at the office. My body is loving it! 🙂

  • Amanda (modernation) May 30, 2011, 1:40 pm

So funny – I didn’t have coffee yesterday either because we were out. I had a headache and felt like crap. Amazing how hooked I am even though I only drink one cup a day. This morning I HAD to go buy coffee so I didn’t repeat yesterday. So, YES, I am definitely a coffee addict.

  • Corrie Anne May 30, 2011, 1:53 pm

Oh coffee. I love you, I love you, I love you!!!!

  • Marcy (Too Timid) May 30, 2011, 1:55 pm

I am totally addicted to coffee. Love it!

  • Jen May 30, 2011, 2:04 pm

You may be surprised. I know a girl who was a huge coffee addict but now has a strong aversion to coffee now that she’s pregnant!

  • alli May 30, 2011, 2:26 pm

i’ve never ever had coffee, and i can’t imagine being so addicted to something that i can’t function without it. so i guess i cant say anything *but* i think it would be interesting if you did a coffee diet, like your tv diet. cut back and see how you feel after a few weeks. i think it’d be a healthy change to add to the rest of your healthy lifestyle! 🙂

  • erica May 30, 2011, 2:38 pm

    i.am.addicted.to.coffee.
    i love it.
i worry about the coffee/pregnancy thing too…but i was relieved that you are allowed one cup. my friend who was also a coffee addict said she didn’t miss it while she was preggers. i hope if and when the time comes, that will be me as well.

  • 'laina May 30, 2011, 2:54 pm

I had to quit coffee a few months ago- I was getting horrible stomach cramping, incontinence issues (I’m only 34!), and migraines on a daily basis. I switched my big container of caffeinated coffee to a small container of half caff, then after about a week I switched that to a big container of decaf, then when that was gone I stopped drinking coffee. I was an angry non-pregnant person when I was drinking full-caff and I’d miss a day, but now I can live without it- the step-down really helped. I miss the routine of making coffee, that’s the worst part, and I can’t stand tea (even with milk it’s just not the same) so I just drink water all day. My stomach, brain, etc love me for it. If you can’t do it on your own.. maybe your hubby could do the step-down for you? I honestly think, if he took graduated steps (like not all within a one-week period) that you wouldn’t know the difference. Of course, it’s just a suggestion.. and I know, like all addictions, you’ll do it when you’re ready to do it. 🙂

That all being said- I did drink coffee throughout my pregnancy, and nursing stages (I have a 4 year old) and the caffeine definitely affected his sleep schedule (he never took naps, and wouldn’t go to bed until midnight). I feel guilt that I could have fixed that (because even 4 years later he’s still usually won’t go to bed at a reasonable hour because it’s habit) but didn’t because I was strongly addicted to coffee. Bah. 🙁

  • Tracy May 30, 2011, 3:16 pm

Maybe this is obvious and I’m missing something, but why couldn’t you take your ASI test and then have some coffee?

    • Caitlin May 30, 2011, 9:33 pm

You take the test five times throughout the day to see how your adrenals function throughout the day at different times!

  • M May 30, 2011, 3:21 pm

I was a coffee addict for many, many years .Then a friend was
trying a month detox and it included no coffee, and I decided to try too.
I had HORRIBLE withdrawal headaches for a week or two-really
felt bad.But now have been off it for a few years (though I still eat coffee icecream once in a while-ha!)
I know it’s not bad for you,but I like not having to set my day around getting a coffee. At this point I am happy to be free of it,but LOVE the smell of high quality coffee (like cocaine for me?!!)
I switched to green tea,and it took me a while to find ones I liked (some are gross!) I finally found a great loose leaf
gunpowder green and I start my day with that!(and one in aft!)

  • ashley @ ashley's adventures in alaska May 30, 2011, 3:28 pm

Not a coffee addict at all- in fact, I don’t do caffeine! I did give in for a handmade, organic mocha shake the other day and it was soooo good.

  • kristi (sweet cheeks) May 30, 2011, 3:36 pm

i go through phases with coffee but right now I’m loving it! I try to keep it limited though because i don’t want to feel like I ‘need’ the caffeine every day. But lately it’s been 1 iced coffee a day and it is soooo good! 🙂

  • kris (everyday oats) May 30, 2011, 3:51 pm

I think coffee enhances my breakfast…Nothing like a steaming cup of coffee to round out my meal. Its just a shame that I’m super sensitive the coffee and I sometimes get major jitters after drinking it. Plus if I drink it in the afternoon I’ll be up all night. I do love it though!…just in moderation now.

If you ever do have to give up coffee, apparently teeccino really does taste like coffee (http://www.teeccino.com/). I’ve never tried it, but I’m intrigued.

Yep, I’m pretty much addicted. I need it each and every day, whether it’s in the form of coffee or tea. I do love the taste too. 🙂

I am such a coffee lover! I fell in love with a coffee from Costa Rica By Cafe Britt and used to order it by the box! It made great Christmas gifts too.

I am a total coffee addict! I have cut back significantly and now I have it as a treat…and try to opt for decaf.

Caitlin, you are speaking my language today! I am definitely a coffee addict (not the fake sort that D refers to but the thumping headache by 11:00 if I don’t have a morning coffee sort) AND I love gardenias. I doesn’t matter what the weather is doing, as soon as the smell of Gardenia and Jasmine is in the air I feel like Spring has sprung. Your Gardenia photo has lifted my spirits on this chilly Melbourne Autumn day, thank you!

I must have tea or coffee every day. So yes, I’m a caffeine addict 🙂

I would hate to go without my morning coffee too! It’s always the perfect start to my day.

I thought I was a coffee addicted, but after I finished my semester of classes, I didn’t have a cup for the first 2 weeks after school was out! I’m not saying that I only drink it when my life is crazy and stressful, but the amount of coffee I drink is highly correlated to my level of stress.

This post literally made me laugh out loud.. yesterday I tweeted: I’m just an unhappy person when I don’t have my morning #coffee [period] hahaha!!

Have you heard of Teeccino? It’s tea… that tastes like COFFEE!!! ..WHAT?! ..YES! It’s organic, and although it’s caffeine free they promise a painless transition if you brew 3/4 coffee 1/4 teeccino and gradually decrease your coffee and increase your teeccino until you’re 100% …cofftea? haha!

It seriously tastes like your favorite cup of java, and you’ll swear there’s caffeine in there just by how awesome it tastes. I think I’ll go make a cup now..

    Check it out:)

I really WISH I could drink coffee! My body can barely handle half a cup, but occasionally I can have an iced coffee if it has lots of milk in it. I get a migraine, extremely nauseous, heart palpitations and my body shakes. I had ONE CUP at around 3pm one day and couldn’t fall asleep until almost 5am that night.
I do alright with tea, but the caffeine doesn’t effect me in a negative or positive way! 🙁

I know people do not like to hear it but coffee is not good for the baby. People want to hear they can take things that does not help the baby’s developing brain. People want to hear taking anti depressants are ok while pregnant but no they affect the developing baby’s brain. It is only 9 months

I was a bit coffee drinker before I got pregnant. In the first trimester, though, it was just too acidic for me, and I didn’t even want it.
Now I do drink decaf sometimes (which isn’t quite the same, but it’s as close as I feel comfortable with.)
I’m looking forward to having REAL coffee again after the baby comes, but not drinking it is definitely do-able!

With my first pregnancy I was so nauseous the first trimester that I barely noticed the caffeine withdrawls, it just fit in with the pain. By second trimester I would have one small cup on days I was feeling extra tired, but that was it.
But get this – I was probably in my 3rd trimester and went to get a small cup while at work. I’m talking the tiny white styrofoam cups that barely hold anything small! I’m filling up the tiny thing and this older male co-worker who I barely know walks up and says ‘you aren’t supposed to be drinking that!’ He is lucky that I didn’t unleash the pregnancy hormones on him!
