Today is the Husband’s birthday, and as you know, birthdays in our house mean you rule the roost for the day. Unfortunately, I am currently sitting in the airport on my way to Ivanhoe, Minnesota for an Operation Beautiful presentation tomorrow.
I’ve never been to Minnesota or South Dakota (I’m flying into Sioux Falls) before. I’m interested to see this part of the country. From Google maps, I’m anticipating it will be rural and cozy. Rumor has it I’ll be presenting to the entire Ivanhoe high school on Monday – 175 students! Crazy. I had nearly 800 students in my graduating class.
So the Husband and I only had this morning together. Per tradition, breakfast in bed:
Public Service Announcement: The next time you’re at the grocery store, pick up the herbs-in-a-tube, the Italian flavor. They are SO delicious and taste amazing on toast with eggs. Way healthier and more flavorful than butter, too. We had our eggs and toast with a side of fruit.
The Husband wanted to take the dogs on a walk around a neighborhood we’re considering buying in, so that’s how we spent the morning. We talked to some of the dads mowing lawns and everyone seemed very friendly. Good sign!
And then he dropped me off at the airport.
Wahh. Not going to lie, I felt really guilty for leaving the Husband on his birthday, even though we decided to do this about two months ago. Can’t pass up a good work opportunity! I think his plans for the rest of the day involve sitting on the couch and watching a marathon of sports programming, so he’ll be just fine.
Still – it was sad.
Grabbed some lunch after going through security. I had a veggie burrito with rice, black beans, grilled veggies, sour cream, and salsa.
And of course…
Happy Mother’s Day! I hope everyone takes a moment today to honor or remember their mother, mother-in-law, or any special woman who fulfills that mothery role. Mothers rule!

Time to board!
PS – Peter Hollens (remember the funny story of how we met?) has a new video out! What do you think?
Thanks for the Italian herb PSA – I’m on my way to the store right now!
