Remember the unlikely story of how Peter Hollens from NBC’s reality hit The Sing Off  and I became social media buddies?  You can read the funny story here.

 

Peter just put together an AMAZING Operation Beautiful-inspired cover of the new Lady Gaga hit.   EVERY noise in this song is made by Peter’s mouth and voice – incredible, right?!

 

He said, “The more work I put in on this project, the more I realized how absolutely fantastic and life changing this movement really is… Operation Beautiful is really helping women AND men find their voice.”

 

Here’s the deal: Peter and I need YOUR help.  We’d love for this video to go ‘viral.’  Peter is trying to launch his music career, and I always appreciate an opportunity to spread the Operation Beautiful love.

    That is really cool. My friend got a note left in her car on the arm rest that said “You Are Beautiful.” I’m really hoping this was an Operation Beautiful rather than a scary thing. We’re totally going with the Operation Beautiful angle. I linked them to your blog/book recently! Awesome work.

    Love these types of videos!! He’s so creative!! I agree, when I hear versions like this, I forget what the original sounds like and when I do hear the original, I tend to not like it so much. This is a great song though, great for my runs!!

    This is great, I love it. Very catchy and the video is fun and upbeat. Caitlin you look so cute in it!

    I personally prefer Lady Gaga’s version because I like that she says, whether or not you believe in God, you are beautiful just the way you are.

    But I still like this version too 🙂

I learned so much about the movement, and about so many people going through the site and getting extra pictures, and seeing all the tremendous work everyone is doing.     Ohhh…I really want to like this. I really do. I love Operation Beautiful and think it’s awesome but I really really dislike how he chose to “cover”/sanitize this song. Love or hate Lady Gaga, you have to admit that she is crystal clear about her support of the gay community and frankly, that’s kind of the point of this song. It just rubs me the wrong way to strip the song of any of those references and turn it to another cause, even one as good as OB. Leaving them in doesn’t diminish the OB-esque messages in it, but deliberately pulling them out just feels a bit pointedly anti-LGBT.
