Sorry for my lack of posting last night. If you’ve read Meghann’s blog this morning, you know where I was from 11:20 to 1:30 AM, so posting was impossible. What started off as a great evening had a very tragic ending. 🙁
For brevity, my afternoon snacks included a Kashi bar, cherries, and a piece of toast with Laughing Cow. Around 5 PM, we met up my friend Stef and her boyfriend for our downtown dinner date.
We went to our new favorite place, Dexter’s.
I ordered a beer once we sat down:
And I snagged two crackers and a piece of cheese from the communal cheese platter.
We had lots to talk about — Stef and Jack just got back from a great trip to Thailand. It was so exotic! They are both rock climbers so they pretty much climbed their way all over the country.
I also got to know Jack a little better — I’ve only met him once before (which was at my wedding and we know how that is!). He’s a tremendous athlete! He casually mentioned that he once ran a 3:00 marathon "for fun." AHHH!
I ordered the same thing as last night — the veggie sammie:
And the Husband and I split these fries:
After dinner, we were all a little bit (OK, a lot) stuffed so we decided to walk a lap around Lake Eola to help our dinner settle. The lake is about 0.75-mile around.
Then we stopped off at a wine bar and ordered ourselves a flight or two. 🙂
Stef and I shared the Bubbles, Bubbles, Bubbles flight and the Ladies’ Choice flight.
Well, I had just a few sips of everything because I was the driver.
It was around that time that my phone rang. Meghann was calling me at 11:00 PM so I immediately knew something was wrong. As you probably heard, her little dog Abbie passed away quite suddenly and without warning.
The Husband and I rushed to her house to help console her and take care of things. It was extremely, extremely sad. Before we went to bed last night, we said a little prayer for Abbie and thanked her for being such a wonderful dog. She was a great fur daughter to Meghann and I know she’ll be missed by my fur family, too.
Life is too short; love your family, friends, and pets while they are here!
Abbie – I hope you are running through green fields in doggie heaven and bones are raining from the sky! Rest in peace, my furry friend. XOXO.
I'm so glad you were there for Meghann – I can't believe what happened! 🙁
