My first Team in Training meeting was held at my favorite place on the planet — Track Shack!
Track Shack is THE Orlando running store, and the people who own the place are so knowledgeable and friendly — I could sing their praises all day long. The best part of Track Shack? Gobs and gobs of running gear!
Including sports bras for every size and impact need! And let me tell you, I needed a new bra.
And Gamins, oh holy Garmins…. I want one of you so badly.
And tons of fun running paraphernalia — like these old posters! I ran Gasparilla last year (this poster is from the year I was born!):
And a old Disney Marathon poster (which I will be running in January):
First, we received a presentation about proper footwear. The thing about Team in Training is that it’s designed to literally take a couch potato and make them a marathoner in 4 months, so a lot of this information was basic — although, I’m sure, very necessary. It was a good presentation regardless!
I had never met my coaches or teammates before and it was nice to finally say hello. I wore my No Meat Athlete t-shirt. :) I figured everyone would learn at least two things about me right away (I’m a vegetarian and I take running seriously — kind of!).
Then, I got to SHOP!
New knee sleeves, new shoes (same as before, Brooks Summons), goo packets, Body Glide…
And a new sports bra (tech shirt was free). Um, needless to say, I always spend WAY too much money at Track Shack! But tonight, I received a 10% discount through Team in Training, so it was all good. I feel really motivated right now. Something about buying running gear makes me really excited. 🙂
Here are my eats:
Dinner was fast and simple. Just tomato soup and 2 slices of toast with hummus. My camera ate the picture — sorry!
Snacks included pumpkin seeds:
Yogurt and Kashi TLC bar (Maggie says, "Hmmm! This looks GOOD!")
And a plum:
Off to bed! I have a run planned in the AM with Megan.
Hey Caitlin: I can't wait to hear about all your team in training sessions.. I have a questions about goo packets.. I have been increasing my miles.. at what point do you take one?? are they good?? I have never tried anything during my runs but I feel like it could defiantly help me now that I have been increasing my miles.
