Group Run

in All Posts

Morning! I am very sad the Healthy Living Summit is almost over.  It was such a fun event to organize and attend.  I really hope we get to do it next year.  Out of all of the activities, I liked meeting all the bloggers + readers the most!

Our two Sunday events included a Fun Run and a Brunch in the Park.   Before I went downstairs for the Fun Run, I snacked on a Kashi bar:

A group of 20 girls met in the lobby of the hotel for the run.  We asked people to separate into groups for the 5K or 10K run, and I stepped to the 5K side!  :)  I have actually run 20.25 miles this week, which is awesome and bad for the following reasons:

  • Awesome: FINALLY broke the 20 mile/week barrier for the first time since APRIL!  Feel ready to really start "marathon training."
  • Bad:  Only ran 16.5 mile last week, so this is a pretty big jump. 🙁 Broke my 10% increase rule (well, I think I did – I’m pretty bad at math – haha).

Everyone:

The 5K group was really fun!  We ran and chatted about various races and whatnot:

And we took pictures:

It was a beautiful and refreshing run.

And then we stretched it out:

Yay!

Do you workout with friends?  Doesn’t it make it so much more enjoyable?  Love it!

Off to breakfast in the park!  One last day in Boston. 🙂

Great run this morning! I don't often get to work out with other people, but it always gives me the extra motivation I need to keep on chugging!

    Awesome run!!! 😀

I only run with friends on occasion, because I'm one of those "it's my 'me' time." I think I need to break out of that and start running with other people once in a while though. I can imagine having good conversation and laughs, makes for a wonderful run! 😀

i work out at home mostly and my husband works out with me probably about 70% of the time!

then my best friend and i take a zumba class once a week! so much fun 🙂

You girls are too much fun 🙂 I usually go for runs by myself so I can keep my own pace (which is not very fast lol). But it is fun if you ever go to the gym to go with a couple of friends. That makes elliptical/treadmill time more social time 🙂 Great event!!!

looks like fun! I don't usually workout with friends..if it includes running because I like to go at my own pace which might be slower then other people 🙂

  • Leianna August 16, 2009, 6:43 am

Working out with friends or other people makes the run go by faster and more enjoyable. You always push each other too!

Looks like you are having such a good time! Almost everyone is wearing pink 🙂 hahaha

I love working out with friends, and being able to run with someone is that much more fun!

Enjoy your last day in Boston!

You guys look like you're having so much fun!

I like to rock climb with my friends. It's more motivating and it's a lot more fun that way. When I'm doing cardio, though, I usually like to be alone.

I must say I'm impressed by your words and charisma at the summit! I've never come across your blog before (I've been to operationbeautiful though) and I happen to find the link at a fellow blogger's site.
    Great job&go on!

    Hi Caitlin!
Do you have extra SUMMIT t-shirts that you could sell? I would LOVE to have one!

  • Heather @ Alis Grave Nil August 16, 2009, 8:30 am

I still haven't ever run with anyone else. Looks fun. I always wonder what happens when you're the "slow kid" in the group though. I think this keeps me from running with other people.

  • Niki August 16, 2009, 9:13 am

Yay for running with friends! I really enjoy it but don't get to that often.

  • Courtney W. August 16, 2009, 10:53 am

Ahh, that looks like SO MUCH FUN! Sorry the festivities have to end, but so amazed and proud of everything that you ladies put on. You're an inspiration. 🙂

I love running with friends! I just came back from a 6 mile run with a friend and the time just flew by! I am helping him train for his first half marathon so there was lots to talk about!

  • Tay August 16, 2009, 11:36 am

Oh what a fun thing to do! Congrats on your mileage, but I know why you feel wary about the increase. When I increased from 40 to 48 or so is when I got injured 🙁

Hope you enjoy the rest of the vacation!!

  • Julie August 16, 2009, 11:52 am

You guys looked like you had a blast! I can't wait for the next one so I can go!

I like working out by myself…I just like to zone out to my music and go at my own pace 🙂

  • *Erica* August 16, 2009, 12:12 pm

How fabulous to meet up with readers and bloggers and get to run with everybody! As a reader (and a blogger) I would have been so excited to have been running with ya'll! Maybe next year! Please tell me you will be making this a yearly thing…I hope so.

And yay YOU for breaking the 20 weekly mile marker! You are most def ready for your marathon training, and to make your friend proud to boot! GO YOU!!

  • Emmett August 16, 2009, 12:31 pm

Wow looks like a fun, I wish I could have gone. I love to run in groups, especially with a lot of women.

  • Caitlin at Healthy Tipping Point August 16, 2009, 12:35 pm

jamie – no we're all out 🙁 im sorry!!!

heather – there are always different paces in group runs 🙂

  • Paige@ Running Around Normal August 16, 2009, 1:12 pm

What a great way to end the Summit! Looks like you all had a fabulous time:)

I like both running alone and in a group for different reasons. If I'm not training or trying to set any records, group running is fine, otherwise I like to run alone.

I do have a friend here at work that I try to work out with every day, it does make it more fun plus there is someone there to push me and hold me accountable for those days when I think I can't do it 😉
