Morning Run

in All Posts

I had a great run this morning with the lovely Megan!

It’s ironic, but we live only 3.0 miles away from each other! She is so sweet and I can tell we’re going to be good friends.  🙂

I woke up around 5:45 AM, got dressed in my running clothes while still half-awake, and slammed a cup of coffee plus a mini-toast with PB.

Megan and I met up at a nearby park.  I’ve never been here before, but it was a great place to run because the trail was 1/2 gravel instead of all concrete!  Gravel feels so  much nicer on my knees!

CIMG6232

We did 3.0 miles, gabbing the entire time!  According to Megan’s Garmin, we averaged between 9:30 and 10:30 minute-miles, so our pace was pretty good!

  • Distance: 3.0 miles
  • Duration: 30 minutes
  • Calories Burned:  240 (estimate)

After running, we spread a little Operation Beautiful love around!  We posted our messages in the park restroom.

My note said, "Be Kind to Yourself — You are Beautiful!"

Find out what Megan’s note said by checking out her blog!

CIMG6236

Don’t forget to send me your Operation Beautiful notes!  I will be posting all the notes later today.  🙂 Send the notes (with a link to your blog, if you have one) to seebriderun@gmail.com!

Breakfast was nice, fast, and COLD!  I was so hot from my run that I could not imagine eating a warm breakfast.

CIMG6238

Just a simple bowl of crushed Kashi TLC bar, yogurt, a sliced banana, and strawberries.  Yum!

After that, I worked a half day, snacking a little on some apricots around 10:30:

And a lovely pasta dish for lunch:

Just steamed kale, tomato, kidney beans, EVOO, salt, and whole wheat pasta.  It was good!

Off to PHYSICAL THERAPY! Yay! :)

Have a beautiful day!

great job on the run! i think i will do a few miles myself today. thanks for the inspiration/motivation. the pasta looks delish. and i ABSOLUTELY love the operation beautiful! i will be doing this all the time :)it reminds me of when i used to leave little pieces of paper saying 'i love you' in places for my hubby to find. it's a good feeling someone to make someone smile. the ripple effect is uber powerful!

    hey sweets,
I just came upon your blog and really enjoy some of the ideas about life and exercise and health. I have been struggling with an eating disorder for years. A little over a year ago I started running — I increased to fast and by december was doing more than 40 miles a week. I had to stop because I could not keep up the pace. Now that I am trying to get back into it, 1.5 miles is so hard. But I am trying.

Anyways, just wanted to say that I really find your blog and story inspiring.

    Take Care,
    Sheena

  • applecrumbles June 19, 2009, 11:29 am

Have you always had coffee and toast before a run? I get a little worried about what I put in my stomach before a run so usually stick to a very small protein shake or 1/2 of a banana with about 1 1/2 tsp of PB. This works for me even during a race but because of nerves, I usuall stick to the 5k's. Do you eat the same snack before a race?

I'm really glad I found you blog, it looks like there's some great info. So..I'll be sure to list it in my blog roll and visit often.

    Yay for running buddies!
I always try to run on the bike path because running on the sidewalk really hurts my knees.

Congratulations on the blog summit coming together! So amazing that you guys are really doing something tangible together.

Also, your lunch looks delish :). I love pasta but am always afraid to eat it because it's hard to control the portion! But mixing it with veggies is obviously smart.
