After 30 days of not running, I FINALLY got to pound the pavement again. How did it feel? Let’s just say….
It was SWEATY! It was GLORIOUS! It was FUN! Oh, and it was raining. 🙂
I only had to put in about 1.5 hour at my part-time gig tonight, so I was free by 7:30. Since it was still light outside, I decided to lace up the sneakers and go for a run. Honestly, it was amazing. I had this HUGE grin on my face the entire time.
Oh, and there was lots of music video dancing/running action going on to "Poker Face" by Lady Gaga:
Yes, I seriously pretend like I’m in a music video when I run. My favorite move is the Vogue move (shown above). It’s embarrassing. And it’s awesome.
One of the key things about running is to NEVER take on a big mileage increase. In fact, you should limit your increases to 10% a week. So, I knew I had to start slow and short.
I did 2.0 miles in 20 minutes as follows:
- Ran 1.2 miles
- Walked 0.30 mile
- Ran 0.5 mile
I walked a little because I knew I needed to physically (watch those knee!) not endurance-wise. Really, I didn’t feel winded at all! I think all my cross-training in the last month paid off. In fact, judging from my time, I was going pretty fast (for me) when I was running.
Seriously… it was amazing. 🙂 🙂 🙂
Afternoon Eats and Dinner
My afternoon snacks included a crushed Kashi TLC bar and Chobani:
And an orange:
Another chocolate:
And a Green Monster (1 cup unsweet almond breeze, 1 banana, flax, and 1 cup kale):
And dinner was eaten on the go at work.
Dinners like this are so time-effective. I made a bunch of brown rice on Monday and just added in 1/2 cup of edamame and 1/4 cup chickpeas. I also added 1 tablespoon of this dressing:
Seriously, it took me 5 minutes to make this meal. I put it in a tupperware, tossed it in my purse, and ate it cold. It was SO good and filling. Yum! (Oh, and I ate 1/2 at work and 1/2 after my run).
OK — time for The Biggest Loser finale! I hope Mike wins!
Glad you had a good run!
Great dinner!
