For all my non-American readers: Memorial Day is a United States federal holiday observed on the last Monday of May, and it commemorates U.S. men and women who died while in the military service.
I actually get Memorial Day off from BOTH my jobs (miracle… I hear angels singing somewhere), so my Dad is coming to town, and we are going to drive to Gainesville to visit my Grandpa. After our drive, I’ll be back home to workout and catch up on reading/Husband time. 🙂
Wedding proof of me and grandpa. 🙂
I made myself a hearty bowl of oatmeal to carry me through the long car ride:
It was a stellar bowl of oatmeal! I think the key to good oats is having something cold on top. The temperature contrast is divine. 🙂
My oatmeal contained:
- 1/2 cup oatmeal
- 1/2 cup skim milk
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 sliced banana
- Splash of Vanilla extract
- Toppings: almonds, flax seed, juicy blackberries

Have a wonderful holiday! I hope you have a relaxing BBQ planned with friends or family.
Note: I was so pleased this morning when I woke up to NO KNEE PAIN. None! I was like a regular 25-year old, not like a crickety 90-year old lady. I cannot believe that running 1 mile is painful, but I can bike 36 mile without a twinge of hurt. Bicycling is saving my sanity!
Enjoy your day and yes biking way easier! I do both training for my first half/full marathons this year, but I try to run only 3 days and bike hard 2 or 3 days. Biking gives my poor knees a break! Happy Memorial Day!
