Immediately after showering off the sweat and dirt from my 36-mile bike ride, I had a lovely snack of yogurt, blackberries, and Kashi Heart to Heart. But, my camera ate the picture! π
I tooled around the house for most of the afternoon, doing laundry and other chores. I was so parched from my workout that I made myself a glass of iced yerba mate.
We bought this straight from a Spanish grocery store a few months back and put it in the freezer for storage:
It was delicious and refreshing!
By 4:00 PM, I was positively starving, but I kept doing that this when you open the fridge, stare inside, and shut it. The only thing I wanted to eat was pancakes!
Sometimes, you just got to listen to your cravings! I knew if I didn’t eat pancakes, I would probably just graze in the kitchen mindlessly trying to satisfy that particular craving. So I went for the gold! :) Breakfast for lunch!
Plus banana and maple syrup.
AND THEN…..
THE HUSBAND CAME HOME FROM HIS VACATION! π I was SO excited to see his lovely face — we haven’t been together since Thursday (way too long!).
We decided to go on a "date" to one of our favorite wine bars, Eola Wine Bar in downtown Orlando.
We picked this place because it also has some decent vegetarian options. I’m proud to say that the Husband has not eaten meat in a whole week! He’s doing so well.
We split a flight of sweet white wines:
From left to right:
- Sofia (a Blanc to Blanc champagne) from Monterey, CA
- Conundrum (a white blend) from Napa, CA
- Silvan Ridge "Early" (a Muscat) from Willamette, OR
- Kreusch (a Riesling) from Mosel, Germany
Pretending I’m back in Napa (Remember the Honeymoon – Part I and Part II?)
I liked the Muscat and the Reisling the best, but the Blanc to Blanc was also great!
The Husband liked it all (as usual):
We split two dinners:
The Eola Flatbread, a pesto, mozzarella, and fresh and sun-dried tomato pizza.
I ate three of the flatbread slices (two are shown). This is a side bread plate:
Plus, a Veggie Wrap with eggplant, mushrooms, asparagus, goat cheese, field greens, tomato, and roasted red peppers.
I ate 1/2 of the wrap.
Dinner tonight was another good example of eating what you crave. After 4 oz. of wine, the flatbread, and the wrap, I wasn’t stuffed — just satisfied. The Husband wanted to order himself another flight, but I chose to switch to water and just hang out. A few years ago, I would have struggled with not eating or drinking more just for the sake of it…. but I really thought about whether I was actually craving another glass or dessert, and I wasn’t — so it made it easy to pass. And now I don’t feel painfully full! Which is always good.
It was a really nice dinner. π I’m glad the Husband is home!
Are you a wine drinker? What’s your favorite — red or white? I much prefer sweet whites!
I love reds! Especially pinot noir, grenache, and shiraz. Yum!
