Morning! I’m going on a 40-mile bike ride with Kelly, Meghann’s sister.
We’re traveling to the General James A. Van Fleet State Trail, a 30-mile rail-trail west of Orlando. A rail-trail is a former railroad that has been converted to a trail.
This rail-trail is one of Florida’s most rural. It runs through the Green Swamp, the headwaters for some of Florida’s most canoed rivers, the Withlacoochee (South), Hillsborough, and Peace. Landscapes include the natural environments associated with the Green Swamp, former citrus lands and cattle ranches. With only one curve in its 30 miles, you can choose to go slow and view the wildlife or enjoy it at a brisk pace. The trail has excellent wildlife viewing opportunities between Green Pond Road and Bay Lake Road.
AKA – Come back later for cool animal photographs!
I had a hearty breakfast to fuel-up for a long bike ride (and a long drive):
I had delicious French Toast with fresh fruit.
I had three pieces of FT instead of two and used two eggs instead of one. This will keep me full through a long ride!
After making breakfast, I rushed to my computer to check out Meghann’s pre-marathon post. I am soooo excited for her! She’s going to call Kelly and I before the race. If you want to follow her progress starting at 6:30 AM Pacific Time/9:30 AM Eastern Time, you can go to http://www.rnrmarathon.com and enter bib #13188 in to the ‘Track My Runner’ link.
Are you a weekend warrior? I think working 67 hours and cramming all my exercise days into the weekend certainly makes me a weekend warrior!
Nah, I'm more of a weekend slacker, but I'm definitely working on upping my workload on the weekends to ease up the pressure during the weekdays. 😉
YUM for extra French toast & eggs. It sounds like you're going to need the energy on your bike ride! Can't wait to see the pics. 🙂
