Biking Peer Pressure

in All Posts

Afternoon!  Sorry I’ve been away so long — its been a wild and crazy Saturday, as usual.

I worked from 8 am to 2:00 PM.  I packed my lunch per my usual MO:

The star of my lunch was an AWESOME Kettle Corn Pro Bar.  It had REAL chunks of toasted corn in it! It was so salty and sweet.  I’m glad I packed a calorie-dense bar (400) plus grapes because what was suppose to be my "lunch" sucked enough so I threw it away after just a few bites:

I made a Hummus + Cucumber Flat Out wrap but it went soggy in my lunch box – eww! I only could stomach two bites before it went in the trash.   Luckily, I somehow managed to survive on just the Pro Bar and Grapes.

After work, I came home and went for a RUN!  Granted, it was a really short and slow run, but it was a run nevertheless.

I did 2.0 miles in 28 minutes.  There was lots of walking because I’m so nervous about my knees.  I’ve only ran 5 miles in the last two months or so!  I feel fine now — I have definitely learned NOT to push it when running.  It’s not that I’ll *never* run again, I just know it needs to be a once-a-week (or less) kind of thing.

After a shower, the Husband and I went to a late lunch/dinner (around 4!).

The Husband had never been to Ethos Vegan Kitchen so we thought we’d give it a try!  (By the way, NO MEAT for the Husband for TWO WEEKS and me for ONE MONTH).

He said he LOVED Ethos and couldn’t believe it was vegan food!

We shared a beer (cause we’re cheap) and I got "What’s the Dilly, Philly?" which is a tofu, red pepper, onion, and vegan cheese "Philly cheesesteak."

With a side of pineapple!  Yum!  It was fun to go to lunch with the Hus:

After Ethos, we drove to a BIKE SHOP!  I am TOTALLY peer pressing the Husband into buying a road bike.  I want him to ride with me sooo badly and since he’s expressed interest, I’ve been non-stop pushing the idea.  It’s a big investment to buy a road bike, so we’re taking the time to look at new and used bikes to find a good deal.

He rode this Fuji Newest 3.0 and liked it a lot.  The store is selling it for WAYYY below the suggested retail price (we could not afford this bike otherwise), so we’re going to think about it and he might go pick it up on Monday!  I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

Newest 3.0

Guess what is on the agenda for tonight?

Yes… tire changing.

CIMG5625

I have actually never changed my tires myself before (I get my Dad to do it), but Kelly (Meghann’s sister) are gong on a 40-miler tomorrow and I need new tires!  I think it will be easy to change my tires, but please wish me luck!  I’m not very mechanical.  🙂

Have a wonderful afternoon!

sorry about the soggy sammie girl – it sounds like it had so much potential to be good.. i guess cucumbers and hummus are just not meant to be together 🙂

glad you decided to honor your body with your run today girl – i would not want to see you injured any further!

enjoy the rest of your night!

Ooh, good luck with the tires!

What did the use as the “cheese” in the cheesesteak, was it some sort of cashew cheese or soy cheese or could you tell?

boo, soggy wraps are the worst! That bar does sound good, though.

What a fun date with the hus! Good luck with your tires! and 40 miles? That sounds fun 🙂

good luck with the tires, it takes awhile to get the hang of, just be careful not to puncture the tubes as you are taking off and putting on the tires! I usually try to sucker my dad into doing it for me, he’s just faster at it.

I just got a new-to-me bike and today The Husband (mine, hehehe) is going to ride with me! He’s inheriting my old one. Wooooo. Tire changing is kind of a pain!

A vegan philly cheesesteak sounds awesome! I’ve never tried one and figured I never would after turning vegetarian. Looks like they have vegan versions of everything!

Peer pressure away! I hope that it works, it would be great to have a built in bike buddy. If you get the hang of changing tires you should make an instructional video. I know that I would like to learn how to do it!

If you liked that ProBar there is a Kashi flavor (I can’t remember the name now) you might like that has pieces of carmel corn in it.

Bummer about the wrap… that fate has befallen a few of my bagged lunches as well. Now I pack the ingredients separately and assemble just before eating.

Good luck with the tire changing… I’d be calling AAA and asking if they did bikes 😉

Wow PROBar has such unique flavors!

Ethos looks like a great place to eat!

  • Erin of Care to Eat May 30, 2009, 10:31 pm

That is the best ProBar flavor in the world, ever.

Ethos looks amazing, I love Philly Cheesesteak so I would love to try that one! Congrats on no meat for a month and to the husband too. I'm on 10 days and I already feel like a new person 😉
