Good morning! I was a flurry of activity this morning, trying to get ready for tomorrow’s race. I am excited/nervous about the race, as it not only is a trail race, but it’s also the LONGEST distance I’ve ever tackled (15.0 miles).
As usual, I’ve photographed all my goodies so you can see what I’m taking with me (we’re staying in a hotel near the race site tonight). Here are my eats:
Outside of the lunchbox: sports beans, a PowerBar for a snack, Quench gum, and Clif Shot Bloks. Inside: my pre-race breakfast (PB sammie and a banana) plus a post-race snack (MyoPlex Vanilla Protein Shake).
Clothing:
Race outfit + a hat + knee sleeves!
And other odds and ends:
Moleskin, my RoadID, sunscreen, deo for my BO, and my CamelBak (the race is 15.0 miles long and there are only 3 water stops).
I feel prepared!
Breakfast:
English muffin with an eggie:
Grape + Banana + Vanilla Chobani fruit salad:
Squeezing in Some Movement
My traditional pre-race workout is yoga class, which starts at 8:30 AM on Friday. However, I made the PIVOTAL MISTAKE of checking my work e-mail at 10 PM last night (note to self: never, ever do that on the weekend!!) and discovered a major fire that needs to be put out NOW. So, I might have to work this afternoon before I leave for the race start. Which means I spent the morning packing and whatnot.
I have a haircut downtown at 10 AM, so I’m going to leave a little early and walk a few laps around Lake Eola. I don’t believe in hardcore exercise the day before a long race, but I do find that some movement really keeps me loose and race-ready.
Gotta jet! See you for lunch. Oh, and tonight I’ll be blogging on a normal schedule from the race location… which is in one of the Top 10 Most Beautiful State Parks in the USA, so be sure to come check out my scenery pictures!
If you haven’t done so already, check out Zesty Cook’s blog to enter for a chance to win some of his super amazing Zesty apparel. Or, buy one for yourself– all proceeds go to the food bank!
good luck caitlin!
