Running Hiatus Workout #2

Signs of summer:  big bowls of FRUIT! After that mid-afternoon snack and work, I quickly drove to the gym to fit in a very, very fast workout before dinner with Meghann and Neely.  I thought my left knee felt better, so I hit up the elliptical and then did some strength moves.  Here's Running Hiatus [...]

Mrs. Brightside

Lunch was so colorful and delish! I've gotten really into the English Muffin sammie lately, haven't I?  They are just so squishy and satisfying. :)  Today's sammie featured mustard, spinach, and a Veggie Burger. Plus an orange: And a side salad: Unfortunately, although this lunch was mentally satisfying (and tasted really good), it wasn't very [...]

Running Hiatus Roundup – Day 5

Be sure to enter the Stoneyfield Farm contest!   Getting up this morning was challenge!  I was laying in my cold, dark room when I started to do the old "bargaining" switch -- you know, "Five more minutes of sleep and I'll skip my shower." But then I decided to give myself a good reason [...]

Driving Range on a Wednesday

I could really emphasize with many of your stories about stress fractures in this morning's post.  The people who had suffered from a stress fracture wrote how hard it was to take time off from high-impact exercise.... and that's kind of how I feel about the running hiatus.    I really miss running.  It's only [...]

This morning, my rumbling tummy was a positive sign that last night's workout was effective!  I love how cardio jump-starts my metabolism.   I snacked on a raw ball from Abbie to keep myself from chewing off my arm. Much more delicious than arm.   Lunch was equally satisfying, with lots to crunch and munch [...]

Stress Fractures

Good morning, my lovelies!  How are you? I'm GREAT!  My knees feel decent -- so maybe all the inflammation from this Saturday's trail race has finally gone down.  I'm don't feel too sore from my upper-body Running Hiatus Workout #1.   And... it's my best friend Sarah's birthday!  Sarah lives in Virginia, but I'm going to [...]

Running Hiatus Workout #1

I hit the gym for my first workout in three days.  Still recovering from the brutal pounding my knees took at the Crooms Trail Race, I realized right away that the elliptical and bikes were out of the question.  Introducing... the rowing machine! (Source)    If used properly, the rower can work all your major [...]

Bad Habit Smackdown Challenge

It's been three days since the 15.4 mile trail race, and I gingerly stepped out of bed (OK, fell over in a sleepy stupor).... only to discover my knee pain is almost gone!  The left one still hurts when I climb the stairs, but I can happily walk.  Which means I can now elliptical or [...]

My sports bra burn around my neck is killing me! Close-up of the hardcoreness!   Thanks for all your well-wishes!  I was just glad I was home to put out the fire!  And I'm really sorry, but this post is not nearly as exciting as the last one...   Dinner   I did have a [...]

FIRE!!

It was a typical Monday morning.... I was typing, typing, typing away and eating my lunch: Which included grapes, a carrot, and a veggie burger on an English Muffin. ' When suddenly I smelled.... WAIT -- IS THAT SMOKE!?   I rushed outside to discover the area under the stairs leading up to my apartment [...]

Running Hiatus

A few weeks ago I made the conscious decision to force myself into a running hiatus.  My last race of the season was this Saturday's Crooms 15.4 Mile Trail Run (check out the recap if you missed it over the holiday weekend!).  Crooms was an excellent and very enjoyable race, and it was satisfying way [...]

Golf and Food Babies

As the day has progressed, my left knee has felt worse and worse.  It's completely shredded, and the elliptical or bike was impossible.  I still managed to fit in some activity, though!   Lunch was light and delicious: I had a veggie burger on an English Muffin with mustard and spinach, plus a side of [...]

Recovery

Oh... my.... God.  I am so ridiculously sore from Crooms' 15.4 Mile Trail Run (read the recap here).  Even my back and abs hurt (from stabilizing).  And check out the bra burn I mentioned in last night's post: Ouch!   HAPPY EASTER!  I don't really celebrate Easter, but I like chocolate bunnies and Easter dinners.  [...]
