Vietnamese Fusion

Last night we went to a Vietnamese fusion restaurant that claimed to be a mixture of Asian and French influences… it was so good!

But first, my mom and I sat at the Embassy bar and snacked on some spinach and artichoke dip. I was so hungry and didn’t think I’d make it to dinner.

Then, the Husband, my mom, and I drove to a part of Uptown Charlotte (which is really downtown) called the Epicenter and explore the variety of shops, bars, and restaurants.

After looking at several restaurants, we picked the Vietnamese cafe…. which I can’t remember the name of!

I ordered a beef lettuce wrap.

The meat was spicy and sweet — so delish! I ate about 1/2.

We also got a free dessert! I picked the Green Tea Ice Cream and ate 1 ball. 🙂

And…. we’re off to grab some Embassy breakfast from the awesome buffet. I can’t say I’m hungry yet, but maybe if I smell some has browns, I can get motivated to eat. 🙂

What’s your favorite type of Asian food? Mine is (of course) Thai, but Vietnamese was pretty yummy!

Mine is probably a tie between Thai and sushi.

Fusion places are so fun.

I completely agree with Becca – it really depends on my mood – but Thai and Sushi are the best!

Mmm, I think Vietnamese is my favorite, though I did go through a Thai stage a couple years ago. I’ve started getting into Korean recently, which seems to be the hip thing. Mmm, actually, I love all Asian food.

Woah! That place seems really awesome. I like fusion restaurants.

Anyway, I’ve never had Vietnamese food! My favorite Asian food (more like Asian fusion, actually) is from a restaurant in New Haven that has the best vegan sushi ever. I also really love Thai food, but I have to be in the mood for it!

I think I’ve only had Vietnemese once and it was delish.
I’m going to have to agree with everyone else though and go with Thai! I love it!

I have never been to a fusion restaurant, it looks pretty cool though! My favorite is definitely Thai food which is awesome since I am going to Thailand next year! Sweet 🙂 Have a great Saturday and enjoy the Embassy breakfast!

Sushi for sure!!!!

But I love chinese and pad thai so much!

Asian food in general is probably my favourite type of food!

i love thai too! but those vietnamese rice noodle bowls with the lettuce, cucumber, bean sprouts and various other meat things (like the beef on your wrap for example) are SO GOOD. light and fresh and delicious.

i’m a big fan of japanese as well, but my boyfriend does not eat fish or anything that smells like fish (seaweed), so i only get that when he’s not around.

I love Vietnamese. Most Vietnamese does have French influences because Vietnam was a occupied by France for 50-100 years in the 1800s. You can get really strong chicory coffee dripped into sweeten condensed milk which is divine. Or go to a Vietnamese Deli and have a Banh Mi which is on yummy french bread with the same meat and veggies you get in their noodle bowls. Or just a really big bowl of Pho.

YUM. this is making me hungry.

I like Chinese (more traditional, less fast food) & Japanese but Vietnamese is so good too!

anon – sorry i don’t eat “real” enough ethnic food for you… i don’t really see what your problem is, but maybe you should think about not being so critical and rude, even anonymously and through the internet? it might make you a happier person.
