Almost, Not Quite

in All Posts

Good evening!  Going on a run tonight was a real mental challenge — I was just not in the mood to do a 5.0 miler.  So I compromised with myself and did a 5k.  One of the healthier habits I’m trying to pick up is to not have an all or nothing attitude.

So,  I ran 3.0 miles and came home.  Better than just sitting around!  Here are my statistics:

  • Duration: 29 minutes
  • Average Heart Rate: 151 bpm
  • Maximum Heart Rate: 210 bpm (my HRM was obviously acting up!)
  • Calories Burned: 250

My mid-run snacks included… yogurt and Grape Nuts!

And a dates

My pre-run snack was toast and pumpkin butter

Husband’s SURPRISE!

So, the other night (Sunday I think, after my long run), I accidentally ate some of Husband’s precious chocolate orange, and he was really upset! 🙂 I felt so bad that I ate his sacred British candy, I bought him a WHOLE CASE!

He was super excited!  I ate three slices  🙂

And…. Dinner

My mid-afternoon snacks +the chocolate were so filling, I just wanted something light for dinner.

My grilled chicken salad included cucumbers, a grilled pineapple, and celery! Yum!

I need to get to bed EARLY tonight! 🙂 Sleep tight.

Oh, I’d like to give a shout-out to Meg of Bites Du Jour, who made my fish burritos recipe and posted her review!  Thanks, Meg! 🙂

That salad looks so good! It’s been too cold here to even think about salad, but I’m starting to miss it.

I do the same things on days I’m not really feeling my longer runs. A lot of times I get out there and find motivation to do more!

Haha. I love those chocolate oranges. My mother in law gives me one every Christmas. Very nice of you to surprise him with the case.

aww your husband is so lucky -you are such a nice wife! 🙂 (go ahead and told him I said so – earn yourself some brownie points) 🙂

omg I haven’t seen those chocolate oranges in forever – they are so good though – I wouldn’t be able to only have 3 slices though =)

i totally agree with you about the all or nothing mentality- i do the same thing in about every part of my life (food, running, school, etc). Recently I’ve been trying to just run based on what i FEEL like running, not based on what i think i SHOULD do. It’s quite liberating, really! 🙂

Hahaha, I laughed about the chocolate orange story. Sorry to laugh about your husband’s trials and tribulations, but a similar thing happened to me. The boyfriend always makes brownies, and one time, I asked for one. The next day, he made some whiney comment like, “But you eat MY brownies!” like a malnourished little orphan boy or something.

Needless to say, I don’t eat his brownies anymore.

…who wouldn’t steal some chocolate orange wedges? They’re so tasty!

Glad you felt great about your run, I think you did awesome! All or nothing attitudes should be banned 🙂

I used to get chocolate oranges in my Christmas stocking every year! So delicious, that was sweet of you to by the hubs a whole case!

Great job on the run. I too have to remind myself that its okay to have easier days or even to split a long run into two during the day.

So sweet that you bought hubs the whole case!

you meant ‘pre-run’ snack, not mid-run, about the yogurt/granola, right? i’m picturing you trying to spoon it up and eat it while running around the neighborhood and it’s a pretty funny image 🙂

as for the oranges you are an awesome wife for restocking the supply but i hope he wasn’t REALLY mad that you ate 3 of his slices!

Haha, sorry I guess I should have been a little more clear. I totally understand that you don’t blog full time (although that doesn’t sound like such a bad job). I did mean your current full time position. Thanks for the info on the advertising options for bloggers. It’s always nice to try and make a little extra spending cash here and there.
