Resting & Eating

in All Posts

After my 12.0 miler, I didn’t want to do much besides rest and eat. I did take James on a 20 minute walk around the neighborhood to wear him out and move my legs a little more (they were starting to feel stiff).  Maggie doesn’t "do" walks so I left her at home under a blankie.

I pretty much continuously ate through the afternoon — after all, I had a 1,000 calorie deficit to make up! I don’t even think I’m close though!  And I’m stuffed!

Two eggs, sunny side up on an English muffin with two slices of Canadian bacon.

Two chocolate truffles

Cantaloupe

Cabot cheese and crackers

And about 1 cup of Grape Nuts and a load of blueberries in skim milk

Stayed tuned for my half marathon training program, which I’ll post tomorrow!

Out of curiosity, do you sign up for a race wayyy in advance or wait until the last minute?  I sign up about 1 month before usually, unless its a popular one that can sell out.

    Aww, Maggie 🙂

Can’t wait to see the training program!!

What yummy ways to make up the calorie deficit. Plus, as always, Maggie is the cutest!

I can’t believe you did a 12 mile run this morning! I wish I could have joined you I could have used the motivation. My plans for long runs this weekend failed miserably.

You missed a great time last night. And Yes I totally barfed in a trash can on citywalk! THe worst part was the trash can was one of those that has a cover and you throw the trash in slots on the side so technically threw up in the ash tray on top of the trash can. lol. GOod thing I don’t really remember any of that part. 🙂

Congrats on an awesome 12-miler! Looks like you’ve been refueling with all kinds of yummy food.

I was pulling for the Eagles and Steelers too, but my Eagles let me down big time!

I usually sign up a month or so ahead of time as well! I haven’t done too many races yet, though.

  • Red Head, Yellow Dog January 18, 2009, 6:35 pm

I usually sign up for a race early since a lot of times the price of the race goes up if you wait.

Can’t wait for the training plan!

    Love Maggie in her blanket!

Well, I’m still not signed up for the half I’m planning on doing at the end of March. I haven’t quite made it official…I’m still a little iffy sometimes! I’ll probably sign up before the price goes up again at the end of February though!

I love that picture of Maggie – so cute!

I usually sign up in advance – it keeps me motivated to really get ready for it if I’ve already paid 🙂

Can’t wait to see the training program!

Maggie “doesn’t do walks” – LOL – god love her! Has she gotten any better about freaking when you leave?

    Awesome job on the run!!
I usually wait to sign up for races until a month prior too. Unless I know it is a popular race and I need to get my entry in sooner rather than later.
    Btw, Maggie is super cute!!

I am in awe of the 12 miler! I am going to sign up for my first race this spring, just a 5k, and I’m even sure what the protocol on all this is or when I need to sign up! I guess I will go for about a month ahead. You’re a great inspiration.. and your food looks great too!

Those eggs look awesome!! I used to always eat “dippy eggs” aka sunny-side up. I miss them!

I signed up for my half-marathon once I felt confident enough with my training .. which was probably about 5 or 6 weeks ahead of time. It actually filled up soon after, so thank god I didn’t wait much longer!

Aw Maggie is so adorable 🙂

  • Sarah (lovINmytummy) January 18, 2009, 11:39 pm

Great job on the run. I’m always ravenous the day AFTER my long run.

I sign up about a month ahead too!

  • Kristin January 19, 2009, 5:58 am

For races I really want to do, I tend to sign up as soon as I hear about them 😉
Others I sign up closer- a month or even sooner!

    Eggs+ham=Best combo ever!
Looks like you made up for your deficit in a healthy way!
Looking forward to your training program!

As much in advance as I can. But I just have my first race coming up so I’ll have to see as I do more! 🙂

    12 miles? YOU GO GIRL!

  • lauren January 19, 2009, 7:26 am

great job on the 12-miler. I sign up waaay in advance for most races because I want to make sure I get in for the best price. Alot of times the prices go up as it gets closer.

  • Sarah W. January 19, 2009, 8:26 am

    those eggs look yum!

    nice deficit!!!

I’ve never ran a Race before…I’m considering doing my very 1st 5k in Orlando at Disney Princess event on March 7th, i just cant bring myself to just do it and sign up. I’m a very BEGINNER runner (with not so great knees) and while in my head i know i can do it, but theres a nagging feeling that I cant shake.
