Good evening! Well, since I woke up so late, we didn’t get around to errands until 1 PM… and I never got a chance to run. Oh well! I think my shopping functioned as cardio today!
After a trip to Wal-Mart for a wall mount for our television, we stopped at the Track Shack. Track Shack is central Florida’s epicenter of all things running…. shoes, clothes, and races.
The salespeople at Track Shack are very knowledgeable and helped me find a new pair of running sneakers. I’ve been a loyal New Balance kind of girl for years, but the salesman convinced me to give Asics a try! I hope they feel great on tomorrow’s run.
I learned a great tip from the Track Shack salesperson. If you can slide your sneakers off without untying the shoelaces, you have not tied the shoelaces tight enough. If you shoe can slip off your foot, it is not providing you with the necessary stabilization to prevent injury. Good to know!
After Track Shack, we hit up Dandelion (a vegan hippie restaurant) for a lovely and light lunch.
My lunch included a serving of Native Mama Mix. Today’s special was Chickpea Lentil, which included red and white quinoa, garbanzo beans, onion, broccoli, tomato, cilantro, lime juice, garlic cumin, tumeric, and salt. It is gluten free and soy free as well!
I also had a cup of the soup special, which was Cream Corn Broccoli. This soup was a wonderful mix of broccoli, corn, garlic, soy milk, cayenne, soy bean, brown sugar, veggie broth, and salt and pepper.
Yummmmm! It was one of those meals when you feel warm and satisfied after, not stuffed and sick.
After many, many more errands, we came home and started to unwrap our wedding gifts! Halfway through the unwrapping, I snacked on a melted turkey and cheese English muffin.
Some of you asked what we received for the wedding, so here’s a few pictures….
A new vacuum! I am a little bit of a clean freak and I was just dying for a new vacuum.
This is a special "pet hair" vacuum, and it really, really works! My carpet is James-hair free for the first time ever!
A new coffee maker and an espresso maker…. Husband has declared himself a barista.
A dual-zone wine cooler… ahhhh! We wanted one of these so badly. We immediately filled it with the wine we bought on our honeymoon in Napa Valley.
A George Foreman. These totally take me back to college cooking, but they are so handy and I’m looking forward to using one again.
Mostly, we received a lot of cold, hard cash. Which was nice because we hope to buy a home in a year and half. We registered through the site www.SmartHoneymoon.com, a great way to essentially ask for cash. If you’re getting married and don’t need all the basic home goods, I highly recommend it!
By the time dinner rolled around, I just felt tired and lazy. We made Anne’s Mac and Cheese with some yummy salads.
Holy yum! 🙂
Time to veg on the couch. Have a great night!
What’s the best present you ever received?
The best present I received was a racehorse for high school graduation. Actually, he was retired… but he had been my favorite Texas racehorse and I had watched him win races. His owners knew I loved him and when he got hurt, they decided to give him to me… and since they knew I was graduating, they waited until then and gave him to me as a gift!
Sadly, I had to sell him (he went back to his original owner/breeder)… and he is now in Florida.
