I’m glad so many of you seemed to like our wedding pictures. Of course I love sharing them!! Here’s four more favorites

CAKE (my aunt made it)!

The men taking shots over the bar (!!)

Awwww memories.

OK — Food!! Today’s snacks included yogurt and granola.

CIMG1079

And an English muffin with PB.

CIMG1081

Then I went on a very speedy 4.0-mile run.  It was definitely one of those runs during which I did NOT want to be out there (it’s like 30 degrees in Florida!!), but I just pulled on my sneakers and told myself to GO!  Sometimes its best not to think too hard about whether or not I should workout, you know what I mean?

Here are my statistics:

  • Duration: 36 minutes (4.0 miles)
  • Average Heart Rate: 165 bpm
  • Maximum Heart Rate: 185
  • Calories Burned: 350

After my run. I quickly drank a glass of OJ and met up with my friend Harry to do some shopping for him.  He needed a female opinion. 🙂

While at Marshall’s, I bought these gourmet biscotti.  I simply couldn’t resist! Just imaging them with coffee in the AM!

CIMG1085

I was starving from my run and ended up eating two in the car between shops.

After shopping, I rushed home to make dinner before Husband got home.

CIMG1101

I made a stir fry with:

  • Chicken
  • Broc
  • Sweet Corn
  • Cashews
  • Bella mushrooms
  • Worchestshire Sauce

CIMG1096

All served on a bed of warm brown rice…. MMM!

Time to go watch LOST — ahhhhh.

What do you do when you really don’t feel like exercising?  Sometimes I give into the temptation not to workout, but mostly I just get dressed and PUSH myself out the door.  I try to avoid debating with myself, because then I never end up going. 🙂

Ok seriously, rose, you, and I all had stir fry tonight and are watching lost??? CRAZY!

  • Lindsay January 21, 2009, 8:24 pm

Usually as soon as I put on my shoes, my attitude changes. But it’s the putting on the shoes that’s the hard part. HA!

Right now it’s “revenge” that’s motivating me to get out there in the cold and exercise. Ex-boyfriend revenge that is! I need to look my bestest when I see him in April for my marathon. Make him bleed with envy! HA! That’s not mean is it? 🙂

  • Marissa January 21, 2009, 8:26 pm

    Aw! What wonderful photos!

  • chasedaylight January 21, 2009, 8:28 pm

Great photos again! When I don’t want to go workout, I think about my upcoming race and realize that I HAVE to run for that! Usually just putting on my clothes to go helps get me in that mind set as well!

  • Amanda January 21, 2009, 8:31 pm

LOVING the gorgeous wedding pics – you really radiated happiness!!

Sometimes when I am totally unmotivated to work out, I will add a few new songs to my ipod or splurge on a fun magazine to get me to the gym.

When I was training for the half-marathon I had a schedule printed out and really wanted to follow it because I was terrified that I wouldn’t be able to do the race if I didn’t … haha the FEAR tactic 🙂

  • jenngirl January 21, 2009, 8:32 pm

    LOVE the pics!!

if I don’t feel like working out, i’ll just get dressed and start out easy, like walking on the treadmill…then after a few minutes the urge to run usually kicks in 🙂

  • Laura January 21, 2009, 8:37 pm

Love the pictures, especially the toast with your Maids of Honor. You look so happy in that one! 🙂

When I don’t want to work out I usually tell myself I’ll just do some light cardio. Sometimes I’ll get the urge once I’m at the gym to do more, and sometimes not. Even if I just do 20 minutes on the elliptical, I figure it’s better than nothing at all.

  • talieworld January 21, 2009, 9:02 pm

    Lovely pictures!

I used to run in the morning before school, and when I did I would sleep in my running clothes. That way when I woke up I was already dressed and the hard part would just be getting out the door!

  • Katie January 21, 2009, 9:08 pm

Mmm those biscotti look fabulous! Chocolate hazelnut is my favorite.

When I don’t want to work out, one of three things happen: 1) I don’t, 2) I go and have a terrible time, struggle through a few painful minutes and leave the gym, or 3)Go, let the endorphines kick in, and feel great. Obviously #3 is my favorite, but it doesn’t always work out that way!

  • Mica January 21, 2009, 9:41 pm

I have a list of “Runner’s Commandments” posted on my fridge, one of which says that some of your best runs are the ones you want to do the least. I try to remember that on my “I don’t want to run!” days.

…That said, sometimes I justify my laziness with some bad excuse and munch on cookies!

  • Kailey January 21, 2009, 9:42 pm

Just caught up on the photos– so freakin' gorgeous and glorious!

Lately it's been 3*F when I make my round-trip two-mile walk to the gym, so it's been difficult to motivate myself to get out of my cozy home. I just tell myself that when I'm there, it's going to feel amazing and I get to a) listen to Kanye & Beyonce and b)read my latest mags.

  • Elizabeth (thelongweigh) January 21, 2009, 10:51 pm

Love, love, love your wedding pictures! It looks like it was an amazing day! And your eats look great!

I just make myself get dressed for the gym..thats alwasy the hardest thing to me. But once those shoes are on, I always go!

  • HangryPants January 21, 2009, 10:58 pm

I am glad to hear I am not the only one who eats many of my food purchases in the car!

I loved the cake. I thought it was so nice that she made both yours and your mom’s wedding cakes. 😀

I just have to start moving when I don’t want to work out. The longer I wait, the more I whine and come up with excuses, so I have to go right then!
Hope you liked LOST, when you figure it all out, let me know =)

  • Thinspired January 22, 2009, 2:07 am

Lovin’ the photos. You were a beautiful bride!
When I don’t want to exercise I just ask myself “Will you regret it afterward?” And the answer is always no, so that is usually enough to get me to do it!

  • Blooming Orchid January 22, 2009, 5:10 am

Last weekend I could NOT work out. I just couldn’t do it. I was a lazy slob of a slug all weekend, and I didn’t feel bad about it. Well, just a tad. I took that break because I had been working out/running 6-7 days/week since Thanksgiving. I needed a break or I would’ve burned myself out.

When I ran/rode the bike yesterday, it felt so good to be back! The feeling was absolutely euphoric.

In short, normally, I don’t have to convince myself to workout/run, I just want to do it. I am completley and totally addicted to the endorphins. AKA the “runner’s high.”

Last weekend was some weird exception to the rule. I knew I needed the break and I insisted upon taking it.

I recently found your blog(s) today and I absolutely adore them. You were a beautiful bride. I hope it’s okay with you, I’ve added your blogs to my blog role.

I wish you many years of wedded bliss and good health.

  • Erin of Care to Eat January 22, 2009, 5:10 am

Such cute pictures – how cute is Meghann dancing?!
I’m with you. I just push my lazy ass out the door. THe minute my mind starts testing my motivation I’m gone!

  • Meghann January 22, 2009, 5:14 am

HAHAHAHA…. I LOVE the one of us dancing 🙂 I really look into the music don’t I? I want to see the rest of the proofs! 🙂

  • Andrea (Off Her Cork) January 22, 2009, 5:40 am

I push myself as well and remind myself how crappy I feel when I don’t get to run! 😀

I haven’t watched Lost yet so no spoilers! 😉

  • Caitlin at Healthy Tipping Point January 22, 2009, 6:05 am

you guys are so motivating! you have tons of good tricks to get you out the door. i loved reading them!

  • Sarah W. January 22, 2009, 6:40 am

so what’d you think of LOST?????

  • brandi January 22, 2009, 7:24 am

I love all the pictures – makes me want to go home and look at mine again! 🙂

I have to just make myself sometimes, too. I just try to remind myself of how great I feel AFTER – and that often gets me going.

Wasn’t LOST insane last night? So crazy. I’m so excited it’s back on!!!

  • Meredith January 22, 2009, 7:39 am

    That cake is absolutely gorgeous!
For me, when I really don’t feel like I exercising, I tell myself I only have to go for 20 minutes. If after 20 minutes I still am not into it I go home happy that at least I did something, but usually by that point I am into my workout and just keep going 🙂

  • Nancy January 22, 2009, 8:38 am

    Hi Caitlin!

First of all I want to say I always keep up with your blog and you seem like such a sweet person, it’s always nice reading your positive and encouraging words to everyone! Your pictures are BEAUTIFUL. You look so happy, as every bride should. You shine from the inside out and I hope you guys have a long, happy and healthy life together!

I wanted to comment about the “dont feel like working out” issue. this has actually been something that has been bothering me. I LOVE working out and I LOVE how it makes me feel but sometimes I get this weird anxiety or something and just CANT push myself to do it. Usually its after Ive been lazy all weekend eating unhealthy food after I had an amazing week of being healthy and working out. I think I bum myself out because as much as I do run, I think to myself “ok you are not a runner… all runners do this and keep up with it and love it always.” I think I beat myself up more about not feeling like doing it and letting days go by like that than accepting that I am a runner and just because I don’t feel like getting out there sometimes I shouldn’t be dissapointed in myself. I don’t know… do I sound crazy? lol I guess reading how everyone goes through this makes me realize im NORMAL and its okay to not feel like it sometimes. the THOUGHT makes me so happy but sometimes its just so hard to move and make myself FEEL the happiness. Did I just answer my own question? I don’t know, you just seem like someone who’s understanding about this and its been bothering me so I thought you were the best to share it with. Thanks for the amazing blog! 🙂

  • Caitlin at Healthy Tipping Point January 22, 2009, 8:55 am

    nancy – very interesting thoughts!!

it took me a long time to understand what “being a runner” was. when did i start to consider myself a “runner”, after all? because when you start you kind of feel like you are faking it and no one else on the street is going to take you seriously. 🙂 i think it was after my first race (a 10K) that i felt like a “runner” because i had crossed a finish line, gotten a medal, and reached a goal.

in hindsight, i think i didn’t really need that external validation. being a runner (or just being an active person) is defined by your own expectations for yourself. i am a runner whether or not i ran once the whole week! its part of who i am, not something i do.

i kind of think the healthy tipping point (HTP) is a little like that. it sounds like you’re still in the “fake it until you make it stage” which is totally fine because that’s the step before HTP! sometimes it helps me to look at a work out or a weekend of unhealthy eating in the larger context. did a week off of running ruins my cardiovascular health? no. did it take away my status as a runner? no.

don’t let the stress or anxiety get to you. i think part of the HTP is learning to let stuff like that go. as i always say… don’t get in your own way!!! 🙂

    lots of love,
    caitlin

ps- that comment was very interesting and gave me a lot to think about when i should be working. 🙂 haha

  • mytastytravels January 22, 2009, 10:25 am

I never “think” about working out either because that just sets me up for failure. I plan my workout for the week depending on what I have going on and make an inner commitment with myself to go. I always take my gym bag in the car so I never have an excuse! Plus I always feel so much better once I go, so I always try to hone into that feeling too 🙂

  • elise January 22, 2009, 10:27 am

your aunt MADE that cake, wow.

when i have no energy, i know i just have to get to the gym, so i tell myself ill just walk on the treadmill or bike or something thats low key…but once i get there, i ALWAYS end up doing more. just gotta trick myself to get the ball rolling…
