1st Tempo Run!!

My new 10K Advanced Training Program called for a 50-minute  "tempo" run tonight.  I was SO excited to try a new style of running!   Tempo Run = A tempo run is a continuous run with a buildup in the middle to near 10K race pace (9-minute mile pace). The pace buildup should be gradual, [...]

Hunger #3

For me, there are three types of hunger:  (1) "I haven't eaten enough fuel!"-hunger; (2) "I'm bored and I just wanna eat"-hunger; and (3) "I've eaten enough calories today, but for some reason I still want to gnaw off my arm"-hunger.   I am suffering from Hunger #3 today.   My day started off normally [...]

Whole Wheat Almond Pancakes

Whenever I have an crazy day in my future, I try to wake up a little early and make myself and Future Husband a "special breakfast."  It just makes the whole day go better!   My favorite pancake mix in the whole world is Hodgson Mill InstaBake, but we were all out! So, I tried [...]

Actual Recipes!!

Sorry guys -- I have been an excellent fitness blogger recently, but a very, very bad food blogger.  I haven't shared a new recipe in WEEKS!  So, here's two new recipes in one post.   For my mid-day snack, I made Chewy Cookies and Cream Granola.  This would taste divine with yogurt or on top [...]

Just Another Manic Monday

Ooo-woooo. Wish it was Sunday. Ooo-woooo. Cause that's my fun day. My long, long run day.   :)   Monday is, as usual, insane.  Somehow I had 25 emails sent to me over the weekend.  People should be banned from sending out work-related e-mails on Saturday and Sunday. Seriously.   Around 9:30 AM, I had [...]

Oatmeal Monday and 10K Training

I was so physically exhausted from the Half Marathon, I went to bed last night at 9:30 and slept for 9 glorious hours.  Before I went to sleep, I did about 10 minutes of yoga.  It was perfection!   I woke up craving oatmeal -- it's been 3 days! I made a basic oatmeal with: [...]

Foooootball (Plus Dinner)

Wooooo.  I had toooooo much alcohol at the picnic! I started things off with a Harvest Moon Pumpkin Ale. The boys played soccer while Meghann and I laid like lazy bums on a blanket with the dogs.  I had a turkey, ham, provolone, cheddar, and lettuce sub. I also had some fruit salad. I also [...]

Sunday Picnic

After yesterday's nighttime posted, when I realized I was in a major calorie deficit due to the Half Marathon, I ate:   1 Z-Bar (again) A 6-pack of Ritz crackers with Peanut Butter An Apple   And... then I passed out in bed! :)   My mom and I woke up around 7:30 and tackled [...]

Feed Me!

Before I get into the rest of the day's post-Half Marathon eats, can I just say how totally awesome the blogging community is?  Really! Your kind words of encouragement definitely kept me going during the race, and it's so nice to hear that my experiences motivate you--because I read YOUR blogs (if you have one!) [...]

Marine Corps Half Marathon

OoooooRAH! The Jacksonville Marine Corps 1/2 Marathon was a success--I beat my goal time by at least 4.5 minutes! The course was amazing--we traveled over three bridges, traversed through beautiful residential neighborhoods, ran through the downtown district, and sprinted along a beautiful river waterfront.  My unofficial clock time was 2 hours, 6 minutes, and 30 [...]

Greetings from JAX!

I got the car munchies on the way here... first up, a Z-Bar (photo taken at a red light!).  Chocolate Chip flavor is DELISH! And then, a baggie of almonds after running a wedding-related errand at David's Bridal (AKA craziest place on Earth). After a three-and-a-half hour car ride (I also detoured to see Future [...]

Pre-Race Preparation

Yoga was amazing.  I tried to clear my mind of all distractions once I walked into the studio.  But, images of tomorrow's race kept flashing before my eyes! I went into child's pose several times instead of doing difficult poses with the class just to calm myself down.  Afterwards, I felt so relaxed and joyful.  [...]

Egg White French Toast and Limber Limbs

GOOOOD MORNING! I am getting really excited AND nervous for my race! I definitely dreamt about crossing that finish line last night! :)   Time for.... POWER BREAKFAST!  It's not just the pre-race dinner that counts, it's the whole day before! I "healthed up" French toast by using 3 egg whites as opposed to whole [...]

Pei Wei, My Way

After work, my friend Harry and I did a little shopping (Future Husband is out of town on business). Harry's one of the groomsmen and needs some nice new shirts for the rehearsal dinner and after party. I love shopping with boys; it's so easy and fun!   We were hungry after shopping, so we [...]
