(That’s "Welcome to Miami!" in Spanish!)
Yay! I am so excited to be here! I definitely needed a vacay and it’s great to see one of my best friends in the WHOLE world! I woke up quite early this morning to go for a quickie run. I knew if I didn’t get up before everyone else, the chances of running would drop dramatically! 🙂
Pre-Run Snack
Before I left, I had a small piece of Italian bread with strawberry jam and a half a banana.
My friend lives in a small complex of townhomes, which isn’t really ideal for running speedwork. Instead, I did a few loops around the neighborhood and then ran to the nearby community college to do some more loops at the campus.
Here’s my statistics:
- Duration: 29 minutes (3 miles)
- Average Heart Rate: 169 bpm
- Maximum Heart Rate: 187 bpm
- Calories Burned: 264
Breakfast
Lisette’s WONDERFUL HUSBAND Danny made us breakfast! Using an omelet maker, he made a potato, turkey, and cheese "omelet of heaven."
He used a machine called the GT Xpress 101… this is a SUPER COOL GADGET! I want one! You can also make pancakes, pigs-in-a-blanket, wraps, and more…
I also had a little biscuit and a cup of coffee…. mmm delicious! Oh, and I ate the other half of my banana.
Now… let’s go back in time! Sorry for the delay in posting, I was wayyyy too tired to post. And a little drunk. Eh, it happens! 🙂
Dinner
Lisette served up a wonderful appetizer of roasted red pepper Sabra hummus and crackers…. I had about 6.
I also had my FIRST Sam Adam’s Octoberfest of the season. This is definitely one of my favorite seasonal beers. If you haven’t tried this yet, you absolutely MUST!
And, the I had a Pilsner Urquell, which is also an excellent beer. Lisette and Danny love quality beer, and I love them for loving that!
Danny fired up the grill and made us yummy turkey burgers, which I woofed down because–by this time–I was a little tipsy! Wheeeeeeeeeeee for vacation! I also had some yummy BBQ chips.
Yesterday Afternoon
The drive here was very nice. It was FAST (about 3.5 hours) and Future Husband and I jammed out to a new CD mix. Before we left, I had a bowl of cereal….
During the drive, I tried a Kardea Nutrition Bar – Chai Spice flavor. It was a unique tasting bar–yummy and chewy!
The Kardea people were kind enough to send me this sample to try, and I must say… I’m pretty impressed! Each bar contains 50% more soluble fiber than found in oatmeal and 1 gram of cholesterol lowering plant sterols. This bar gets TWO THUMBS UP from me!
About halfway through the drive, we took a break at a rest stop. I got a nice soft-serve ice cream. I ate half of it before I got back to the camera… sorry! 🙂
Today’s Plans
The Husbands are going to the MIAMI vs. UCF game tonight, so Lisette and I have some girlie time alone. We’re going to go to the movies and buy her bridesmaid dress! 🙂
Have a nice day! I hope the sun is shining brightly wherever you are, and you get an opportunity to enjoy some beautiful fall weather! 🙂
HELL YES for being in Miami – I want you to enjoy every minute that you’re there, and cheer up :0) Remember the good times, savor the moment.
