My positive thinking kept me uplifted all day, and I got LOADS of work done – yay! It was nice to read in the comments that other people struggle with the same icky feelings on Monday morning, and I hope my thoughts made your day go a little smoother, too!
Today is Monday, which means "gym day" for Future Husband and me! I get so bored at the gym that I try to mix up my cardio and weight lifting. It helps to keep things interesting if I jump from one type of equipment to the next.
Today, I first used the elliptical for 15 minutes. I tried to keep my heart rate above 150 bpm. Next, I jumped onto the stairmaster and did three sets (15 minutes) of: backwards stepping at speed 7 for 1 minute; stepping to the right at speed 7 for 1 minute; stepping to the left at speed 7 for 1 minute; stepping forward at speed 8 for 1 minute; and stepping forward at speed 9 for 1 minute.
Then, I bounced over the weight room and did:
- Alternating sets of 12 push-ups and 10 sumo squats with 25 pounds (3 sets of each).
- Bicep curls (12 reps, 3 sets of each with a 25 lb. weight)
- Tricep push downs (12 reps, 3 sets of each with 35 – 40 lb. weight)
And… then I just back on the elliptical for another 5 minutes as a cool down.
Here are my statistics:
- Duration: 45 minutes
- Average Heart Rate: 146 bpm
- Maximum Heart Rate: 178 bpm
- Calories Burned: 329
Lazy Blogger Dinner
Every time we leave the gym, Future Husband and I have to walk by this amazing Italian restaurant. We felt too lazy to cook dinner, and the idea of washing dishes make us feel EVEN lazier. We stopped and picked up baked vegetarian ziti. I made a side salad when we got home.
Cheesy, caloric, delicious!
And here’s the rest of my eats for the day….
Mid-Afternoon Snacks
Pre-workout glass of milk (I felt nauseous because I had just popped a tablespoon or so of chocolate chips in my mouth, and the chocolate gave me a sugar rush… horrible feeling).
Early in the afternoon I had a WW pita with some PB, plus a sliced watermelon…
Lunch
I had a stir fry of tofu, broc, and baby corn. On the side, I had 1/2 cup of Kashi Pilaf… so amazing! I love the CHEW of this!
But this lunch didn’t sit well (it just didn’t fill me up!)…. an hour later, I had Grape Nuts + yogurt.
Mid-Morning Snacks
I tried Oikos Honey Yogurt! It was good, but I like Plain Fage the best. Greek yogurt IS delicious; however, it’s just too expensive for an everyday treat. Maybe I’m just poor, but whatever! 🙂
Thoughts of Today’s Food Intake
Calorie-wise, I definitely overate today. This is what happened: I kept popping random handfuls of chocolate chips in my mouth, which made me feel ill, and then I had to eat to compensate (i.e. the glass of milk).
Moral of the story: I shouldn’t eat sweets when I know it will just make me ill. I KNOW this about chocolate, but it’s just so hard sometimes! Oh well, tomorrow is another day!
Off to watch more HEROES! See you tomorrow!
