Hello! I had a BLAST this weekend and really enjoyed seeing all my college girlfriends.
Apple Blossom Festival 2009 was so much fun — there was lots of drinking Blue Moons, karaoke-ing, BBQing, and staying up WAY past my bedtime! It wasn’t the healthiest weekend in the books, but that’s not exactly the point of Apple Blossom Festival!
I didn’t photographs all my eats because I knew the post would be too long. :) But here are some highlights of my weekend…
Friday
I drove the airport around 9 AM on Friday for an 11 AM flight. We were low on groceries, or I would’ve packed my own food. Instead, I stopped by Au Bon Pain and bought a red pepper hummus sammie and a single serving of Orange Juice. I stashed the sammie in my purse and ate it on the plane.
I read Skinny Bitch on the plane, and it definitely affected my food choices for the rest of the weekend (well, in terms of no meat)! I am re-reading the book and will give a full review when I’m done.
My BFFs Sarah and Megan picked me up from the airport, and we drove together to Virginia. Upon my arrival, I was promptly served a lovely Blue Moon (from a keg, which we crushed in 24 hours).
I had about a million beers this weekend! Sorry, but this girl loves a good brew-haha!
Our other college girlfriends and friends trickled in and we just ended up having a huge house party. I would say there were over 25 people there (that’s a big house party when you’re old)!
Much insanity ensued:
Oh, and I karaoke-d the same guy from last year and beat him again!
Eats included more Blue Moons:
And a Grilled Cheese Sammie and Potato Chips for "dinner":
And Pizza around 10:00 PM:
And a bagel at 3:00 AM. It seemed like a good idea at the time! 🙂
Saturday
On Saturday, we woke up around 10 AM and recovered with a pot of coffee:
And I squeezed in a healthy breakfast thanks to my BFF Sarah (she keeps a well-stocked fridge!). I had oatmeal, a banana, and an orange:
After breakfast settled, we had a few more beers (so sue me!):
And went to the PARADE!
Then, we stopped at a bar for more karaoke-ing (we have a problem!) and some drinks (it was around 2 PM by this point, which makes it a little more acceptable… right?).
I would post videos of us karaoke-ing, but I think my friends would KILL ME. 🙂
Next up: the carnival! I was soooo excited to eat some carnival food! I think everyone should eat at least 1 funnel cake every year. My friends Becki and Bethany split the following items with me:
Fresh cut fries!
And…
Funnel cake! With powdered sugar, of course!
After the carnival, we went back to Sarah’s house and threw another 25-person house party (with a keg of Bud Light this time). We also grilled out on the BBQ! I had a Veggie Burger with an orange.
And we made ‘smores over the gas oven. 🙂
I had four of these! Best… idea… ever!
I called it at night at 1:30. I cannot stay up like I used to! 🙂
Sunday
Sunday was much, much calmer. We all staggered downstairs and I ate another healthy breakfast of banana oatmeal with a coffee. I also had a Veggie Burger on a Flat Out Wrap with a slice of cheese plus an orange for lunch.
Everyone slowly left over the afternoon. 🙁 It was really sad to say goodbye to my girlfriends. I miss them already!
Dinner was eaten at the airport:
I was craving veggies! I had a V8 and a pressed hot sammie with mozzarella, tomato, and basil.
Plus, two dates and a TLC bar upon take-off.
It was sad to leave, but I was also happy to be home. I missed the Husband a LOT! We’re the kind of couple that is comfortable to do things without each other, but that doesn’t mean I didn’t miss his presence. I love him so much (mush alert!).
Home, Sweet Home!
I’m going to go hydrate and relax! I hope you enjoyed reading about my weekend of CRAZY fun. 🙂
See you tomorrow!
It looks you rocked out this weekend! And I totally agree, everyone needs a healthy dose of carnival food (FUNNEL CAKE YUM) as a special treat. 😉
Yay for reuniting with the hubby though!
