I can’t stay away from blogging — even on my honeymoon!! Part of the problem is that I’m literally in foodie heaven, and I keep eating these wonderful meals, and I need to share them with you! And I really, really miss the blogging world.
So, although I swore I wouldn’t blog on the honeymoon, I’m going to! Probably not everyday, but fairly often.
Meghann gave an excellent recap of the wedding! All I can add is that it was truly THE. BEST. DAY. OF. MY. LIFE. We keep saying it was "perfect" and it really, really was perfect. Nothing went wrong. The weather was gorgeous. It was so amazing to have our family and friends there to share the moment with us. I’ll give more recaps of the rehearsal dinner (a-maz-ing) and the wedding when I return from the honeymoon.
As Meghann described, we caught a limo from the wedding to the airport and took off for Napa in the morning on Sunday.
Sunday Night
Since arriving, we’re done a LOT of eating and drinking. On Sunday night, we had dinner at Redd in Yountville in an area known locally as "restaurant row."
We started off with super crusty and delicious French bread.
The famous Chef Richard Reddington heard it was our honeymoon and surprised us with a wonderful mussel and celery soup.
Our appetizer was a lovely scallop dish.
And I was craving red meat so I got the New York steak. It was good, but I wasn’t crazy about the fried meat-stuffed cannoli side. 🙂
And Chef Reddington made us a special dessert. Well, one of his lower chefs probably made it, but it was still yummy.
Monday
Yesterday, I woke up early and did a 3.0 mile run and 10 minutes on the elliptical in our hotel gym. It felt good to work out! Then, we got dressed to tour the wineries….
We took the Platypus Bus, which is basically a designated driver that knows all the special small wineries.
We toured:
It’s pretty cold here, but its so quiet and all the tourists are gone… except us. 🙂
The Platypus Bus tour guide even made us a lovely cheese and cracker tray. He also did a very yummy lunch of sandwiches and fruit.
Since we had a DD, we got pretty tipsy. 🙂
The Husband is enjoying his wedding ring. 🙂
We also went to a really nice dinner in downtown Napa at a restaurant called Celladon. It was good, but not great.
Tuesday
We went to bed early last night, and we ended up waking up at 7 AM naturally. We took a nice stroll along the Napa River before breakfast. Afterwards, we went to two more wineries, both of which were really fun… but we’re starting to feel a little sick of wine!!
Sterling was a great place to visit because it’s very large and commercial, so it’s just different than the smaller vineyards.
Plus, they have an awesome aerial tram that takes you up a vineyard-covered hillside.
We literally had the place all to ourselves!
And afterwards, we went to Schramsberg, which makes sparkling wines/champagnes… one of my favorites!
Schramsberg was unique because all the wine is kept in an underground cave.
Did I mentioned we upgraded our rental car from a crap-tastic Kia to a AWESOME Mercedes Benz C300?? IT’S SO MUCH FUN TO DRIVE!
We named the car Victor. 🙂
This afternoon we drove to Solage Resort and Spa to enjoy a relaxing evening of food, wine, mud bathes, and massages.
We had lunch at the Solage’s restaurant, Solbar. I got a wine flight (too much wine….), as did the Husband.
I had a yummy smoked chicken soup as my appetizer.
And INSANELY awesome Fish Tacos as my entree.
The Spa Solage was divine. Our mud bathes were messy, fun, and really relaxing. The massages were even better.
After our treatments, we drove back to Napa, stopping at Whole Foods for some dinner (I needed something light — soup and salad). I made the Husband take my picture inside because I was soooo excited to be in a WF! I think he was embarrassed. 🙂
Now, we’re relaxing and recouping. We have plans to do MORE wineries tomorrow, and I definitely want to squeeze in a run. 🙂
I hope you guys are doing well! I don’t have time to catch up on your blogs, but I will definitely be doing so when we return home next week.
XOXO
